Do you think cities will drop their vaxx mandates?

Several big coastal cities have vaccine requirements for entering establishments (food, drink, fitness, entertainment) and either have a negative test opt-out or don’t at all. Chicago is the most recent big city I see doing this.

Do you think these mandates are permanent or something that will fall off, say later in the year, once the current surge ends and things calm down?

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

No I hope they make them more strict and kill people that don't have it

Whos supposed to enforce that? Small businesses? If someone comes in my cookie store to buy a cookie I am not chasing my costumers off for not having a vaccine. It seem hard to enforce this. Businesses are there to make money not to be the police.

Well right? I work in the service industry and I would hate to have to enforce this, it’s none of my business and we should be able to trust the public in making informed decisions for themselves, not essentially ostracizing and segregating others who do not comply.

I mean, that’s my problem with it, I’m trying to plan a vacation and I’m running into the likely hood where I want to go will have requirement/mandate in place.
I’m not vaxxed, but I had Covid so I have some immunity still; it’s bs they don’t make exemptions for other situations.

I’m looking into Austin, miami, Nola. Out of those three Austin might have some voluntary business requirements but the governor won’t mandate a state-wide one. (Masks or vaxx)

Mountains are up my alley though too. It’s a thought.

It is hard to enforce, but would a business be making money is someone reported them for not following the mandates? I think its dumb anyway and chicago cant make its mind up on rules and regulations. Lightfoot is an awful mayor

Exactly, sometimes I think this is why they let healthcare stay so fucked up in the USA. Small businesses owners can not get affordable healthcare. To get affordable healthcare you damn near gots to work for corporations. Its a way for corporations to take over small businesses covid does this too.

Actually, your logic makes no sense, and it is a problem. The way human body builds immunity is through the spreading of colds and viruses via our environment and other people. Which makes us stronger, despite being sick for a moment.

The exception to this are deadly diseases or viruses, or ones that cause consistently severe life altering symptoms. Then, precaution or avoidance is necessary, to stop the spread, like with HIV, Ebola, so on.

Hopefully a fake vaccine passport cottage industry will pop up. HAHAHA!

I'm completely against vaccine mandates. It's my body, my choice! ... or is that only acceptable to liberals when it comes to killing unborn babies?

I too find it ironic liberals want to push vaccines but are for abortion. Since it's okay when they take away our rights but not when we try to say killing an unborn child is wrong.

        Vaccines save millions of lives.

Abortion removes life of something that isn't even conscious yet, and eliminating a potential horrible life for both parent and child in the case of not being financially stable enough.

So removing life is okay but apperently removing people's rights to choose medical procedures is okay? What happened to "my body, my choice"? It's a little hypocritical to only apply logic when it fits your narrative. That's called being a hypocrite. Also forcing a person to accept medical procedures goes against people's medical rights.

The same goes for American republicans. Taking a shot goes against their rights, but it's perfectly fine to force someone to keep a baby in their womb for 9 months and raise it for 18 years.

It can help, eventually our immunity will wane from the original infections, or the virus will have mutated enough where we no longer have enough cross-immunity protection.
It really is a waiting game and you just don’t know because we aren’t scientists and I even question when they say things like 91% of the virus going around is Omicron, is it really?

        Comment Hidden ( show )
          -
        • LloydAsher

I mean covid is just a virus and that's the best course of action for a virus to mutate into a less deadly more spreadable virus. It's easier to stay alive inside of a live host.

We will all get it. Restrictions are unnecessary and ironically the masks right now just draw out the inevitable. Which if you paid attention to the begining of covid that was the point. To slow the transmissions enough to let the hospitals catch up. Not to cure covid. The hospitals caught up. So we dont need to shit ourselves every time covid mutates.

          Comment Hidden ( show )

One thing they did not take in consideration with their studies is if vaccines do actually lessen symptoms you are more likely to be Asymptomatic. If you are asymptomatic youre more likely to go to work and spread it. So even if it lowers spreading outright that can be nullified if they're going to work with covid.

China's economy is already starting to implode... all inflicted by China itself.

The key early failures and indicators have already happened (the people of China have stopped investing their money in remote apartments or condos... and there are millions of vacant units in mostly shell buildings built on debt, and no one is now buying them - nor can sell them, and the massive housing construction industry is grinding to a halt - millions of jobs; Trillions in debt).

It may take a few more years for things to collapse... and then there will be very little Chinese Military to worry about; and most likely the last thing China will be worrying about is Taiwan.

People are underestimating how serious this evergrande thing is in china. One must also realise that modern day China has not been through much yet. They have had massive growth in the past decades but America has been through world wars, depressions, civil war, every kind of market crash there is and we are still here steady growing. We will see how china is able to deal with its problems in the future. But if history repeats itself china will again destroy itself.

Xi will stop at nothing to get Taiwan. It's not about China it's about xi trying to hold power. If his country is in shambles the best he can do is scapegoat tiawan and try to be a military leader. Problem is that china is terrible at war. If he fails that just might be the opening his rivals need to just off him and take power. Xi needs to show that hes powerful. Not China.
