I don't get what you mean, and I don't really know what we deserve or why we would deserve anything. And I don't mean that in the sense that we deserve nothing, it's just the word deserve confuses me sometimes and I really don't get the question:S

I agree. I think that people deserve basic human rights and needs (food, shelter, medical care, etc), but beyond that, I don't find the word "deserve" very clear or useful. If you said "Do you think humans shouldn't have bodies?", I would say no. If you said "Do you think it would be better if humans had bodies that live longer and malfunction less often?" I would say yes. But deserve? I'm not sure what people even mean by that.

I think it depends on the person. Rapists and drug addicts who disrespect bodies deserve worse. Physically handicapped people deserve better. As for the rest of us? Well we were given it, whether it was by a higher power or evolution, I guess we got what we deserved.

Really? It's sad that you don't understand, but i'm empathetic. I can't really explain in more depth so you'll have to at least try to understand what i'm trying to say.

i guess you want to ask kind of
''should we have better bodies '' OR
''how if we could choose our bodies and how we are''OR
may be !! i got it this way so but what i think is ... if that choice really existed then every one in this world would be beautiful !!! or it could also be that people would change themselves into some weird bodies and today this world would be full of some different thing and specie at every step and a fashion....
but if you are asking that (indirectly):
'' why are some beautiful and some not and why aren't we as we want ..'' so that goes for complication !! (furthur read my comment below)

A lot of people don't understand...
But yes, we deserve our bodies. Why not? Humans aren't as bad as we are made out to be. It's just the small minority that are evil. We shouldn't be judged on that minority.

From an evolutionary standpoint, and as a collective whole, yes, humans deserve their physical bodies after billions and billions of years of evolving, of trial and error and death, survival of the fittest, natural selection...etc. yes by all means your body can sustain itself as a living system pretty efficiently because it has evolved so.

Now in moral retrospect with regards to the harmful reckless impact on the ecosystem, no, humans do not deserve their bodies and that is why we are all paying for it by breathing our very own toxic "byproducts" so to say. moreover we especially dont deserve it as other living beings pay the price also

Your question is pretty ambigious though. what exactly were you referring to?

you're stuck with your physical body as long as you're alive, whether you like it or not, whether you deserve it or not. but i think people who purposely don't take care of themselves don't really deserve their physical body, because then they become unhealthy and that becomes a burden to themselves and others, financially and otherwise.

Human bodies are limited to the 3d realm, while our vision and perceptions are limited to the 2d realm. This predisposes us to a subjective, separate, and individual point of view. However, while we are physically and perceptually constrained by our senses, we can still gain knowledge of the world around us and see with our understanding; transcending the limits of our bodies to . Whether we deserve to see in the 3rd dimension and upwards I cannot say, because to truly see in other dimensions would be to see through objects, around them, from them, and above them all at the same time; try to imagine yourself and another person looking at each other, and while you stare at them, you can discern no difference between his senses and your own...you cannot perceive it, like trying to look left and turn right at the same time.
So if we value our individuality, then we might count ourselves lucky to be subjective. To be 4d beings would make us more like what we usually refer to as god(s).

Your body is only your vessel in which the soul lies. I think yes you do deserve your body because you have the choice to make it how you want. You can treat it badly or you can treat it well. or a lil in between. the truth of the matter is though, your body is only the physical vessel in which the spirit can live here on earth. the physical body will always die and desecrate into earth or ash but the soul lives on and until you have reached the level of ascention you will have that physical human body.

lets take it as a gift and be proud of however we are and lets make people adore us by our personality and work...love your self and people will love you too!!
and yeah we today even dont have to be worried about how we look physically ... we can just kind of alter ourselves like through makeup and some medical treatments..!!!

  • FrozenStrawberries

I feel like asking if we deserve something is a bit of a loaded question. I feel like we should have much better bodies. It's like they say "the spirit is willing but the body is weak". Evolution is slow and impersonal. Hopefully one day we will master genetics enough to literally reinvent ourselves (for better or worse).

Well we humans didn't create our bodies, they were given to us by God. We didn't do anything to deserve them, but what would we be if we didn't have our bodies, just non-existent?

      yes that is correct. non-existent.

I don't think we'd be non-existent. Our atoms and energy just wouldn't be restricted to our bodies. So we would still exist, but in a different form.

good point haha i completely overlooked this law of thermodynamics.

ok well we'd decompose back into our ecosystem for other life forms to take over

but the consciousness would cease to exist? I cannot say since I am not dead, however, in anatomical terms of the neuron activity in the brain..the mind..etc. then yes that would be the end of it.

I doubt that's something anyone will know until the time comes. When you hear about people having memories of other times and places.. there's been a documentary recently, I don't think it's been debunked as a hoax yet, called The Boy who Lived Before. Kinda nuts.

But as our atoms decay into the ground and become other things, wouldn't it be cool if our consciousness did the same? You would never be the same person again, because the same parts would never come back together twice..

This is all just wild speculation of course, but it's interesting to think about. Fuck, maybe I should be a physicist.

Well the recollection part, when people say yes I been here before this place looks so familiar..etc. The other day I was thinkingwell since or brain is still a mystery...imagine that you are an infant and are placed in a vivid red polka dot room now your infant brain is a sponge absorbing everything, your memory stores that imagery of the room. Ten years later you somehow find yourself in a similar room and cannot explain why this room looks Soo familiar to you. So then you speculate that you are reincarnated..etc or a past life.. Etc but all the while it is your brain doing it's thing being it's mysterious self. Have u ever thought about these things?

Have you ever thought about these things my beloved like minded physicist :-)

For what we do to the world, I don't believe we deserve our bodies. For all of the harmful emissions that we cause etc e.g. the constant growth of carbon dioxide I don't think we deserve our bodies. A small minority might though. We should be grateful to have bodies but those who rape/murder etc should not have bodies as they don't deserve them :)

  • shade_ilmaendu

Good question. On the one hand I agree that our bodies changed to suit us, to suit our environment, so on the one hand we do.

On the other hand, people use what Nature (or God or the Universe or whatever you wanna call it) has given us to destroy this planet, to destroy one another, to steal and rape and kill causelessly...

I feel like it would be too hard to judge on humanity as a collective. But there are certainly those individuals out there who have forsaken the gift they were given when they were born.

Even then, there must be allowances. Sometimes the horrible rapist, the viscious killer, was just a victim who never got help, who's psyche never got reparied. One certainly can't completely disregard the psychology of the perp, so to speak.

BUT, if no one were doing horrible things to one another, then there wouldn't be these broken people running around doing horrible things because they themselves were victims. So it really is a cycle that we have perpetuated as a species and as individuals, and it has to stop somewhere.

    ....Phew, I just point/counter-point'ed myself.

I would say that we get the "plan" layed out for our bodies long before we can be determined to deserve anything. I would also say this question is rather nonsensical.

I'm simply asking if you think we deserve what we got. It's not a matter of whether or not we should chose our bodies or others bodies (It may be possible to some extent in the future, though), which I know is impossible.

If it was expensive to get a better body, that has the potential to create an even more unequal society, so that's problematic.

Our pyshical bodies were made this way so that we can capable of performing the task we need to perform. We've evolved to fit our environment. If we weren't built this way, I'm sure our species would die and pretty quickly. If our bodies were more advanced, I'm sure it would corrupt the ecosystem. I'd say we deserve our bodies the way they are.
