No, they are shady as hell. When "Christians" in mega churches start shimmying and shaking, and "feeling the power" and start flailing about, and spouting jibberish; I wonder what Jesus would think about such nonsense.
I believe that when we die that's the end of it. Only humans are conceited enough to believe in an afterlife. Another reason is that we are probably the only species that is aware of death. All or at least most other species are aware of the now never mind the end of life. I do not fear death nor am I afraid of it. When it comes the best I can hope for is to die in my sleep. I sure don't want to end up in a nursing home and linger there for months or years. That is my biggest fear and not the dying itself.
Agreed. If there was no religion there would be world peace. All armed conflicts are religious based arguing who has the best invisible friend (Napoleon).
World peace is a ludicrous pipe dream. It can never be achieved even if everyone became atheist. We humans are competitive and bloodthirsty by nature. Killing in name of religion is just one of the many excuses to satisfy that blood lust.
A lot if it goes back to prehistory when humans started farming and raising animals for their use instead of chasing them all over hells half acre. They became very protective of their land they considered their own. Then city states and countries were formed and the same type of thinking is still with us. It has been hardwired into our thinking.
Thinking that the world would ever join together as one is a pipe dream. The only solution would be WWIII on a planetary scale where the few survivors would have to work together or perish as a species.
I feel its acceptable to a certain point.
Mainstream churches are def out for publicity and money. I understand the donating part or what not but if yhur there to worship God why all the extras, and fancy stuff.
The "oh this holy water jussed cured this woman from being inna wheel chair" is a crock of bs to me!
I also feel over time, the word or how its interpret has changed!
Me and church is not a thing, but I do look up to God and have my own personal relationship with Him. I've never liked church since a kid. I believe its total bs. My honest opinion. What I get out of a scripture is different then the rest.
Also me being mixed (Caucasian and African American) , from slavery days I feel the white man (no offense to anyone) the white man instilled religion upon slaves in a way and also the way they were treated, they needed something positive to look forward to or believe in.
Just mho
I couldn't have said it better.
Sad as it is many in the Afro American community are aware of how Christianity became apart of the community.
It's also not just the Afro American community a majority of those who follow Christianity or Islam are descended from conquered people's.
Even the Europeans originally didn't follow Christianity.
The problem with religion is they cause people to try to argue why their "faith" is the best rather than any kind of debate into the truth behind whatever forces may or may not govern the universe. Listen to the christian radio station, it's basically just a bunch of generic "god is good god is awesome, etc" crap. Science is also basically just a religion so it falls under the same category.
Whether it’s a jew a Christian or a Muslim. They all do the same thing. They pick and choose what part of their holy book says and throw out the rest. They only believe what they already believed. And usually it’s cause mommy and daddy told them to believe that version when they were kids.
Don't let the evanglicals in power hear you say that about Jefferson.
He was a very Christian man in their eyes.
The leaders of so called holy men of said religous groups no they clearly only want control and power.
But the followers that all depends on the individual I would say the majority are useful tools who honestly believe in the dogma that is their faith.
Fundamentalists are cancer and a threat to modern society be it Jews Christians Muslims etc etc.
They will come up with many reasons and justifications on why their faiths are the right path of moral and spiritual guidance when in truth they are regressive and intolerant and if left unchecked blood thirsty.
Most followers are just looking for something and I am not against that but they see themselves as holy soilders for their gods and non believers as a threat that needs to be converted or destroyed.
Religion is responsible for turning people away from God. IF you read and believe the Bible there are only two religions; a true one and a false one. The trick is to find the true one in among all the false ones.
• To please God, a religion must be based on Bible truth.—John 4:23, 24.
• Religions based on human ideas are futile.—Mark 7:7, 8.
So if you're into religion and looking for the right one; good luck!!
If they are then it's only because they're very good at preventing themselves from even beginning a train of thought that might lead to religious contradictions or too much logic.
Fundamentalists of all brands show the true nature of religion in all it's petty, irrational, illogical viciousness. The Taliban, Wahabi Muslims, fundamentalist Hindus and the members of the Westboro Baptist Church are far more alike than any of them would ever admit.
