read a lot of about the pro's and con's of wearing a mask, from deprive the person on oxygen and not stopping the virus, to best solution to prevent the spread of covid. one has to wonder why even the experts dont agree.
The mask does not protect you from other people, but it does protect a high percentage of other people from you.
So, if you wear a mask, you are helping others. If others don't wear a mask, you're fucked. The ethics of assholeism will always prevail. That because a single asshole does more damage than everyone else can prevent.
So? We all drive cars. Some people smoke, which second hand causes cancer. Theres aplenty one can do that is dangerous to not just yourself or other people.
I don't know if its naivety or someone who wants to pave their way through hell that thinks mandating laws will help the situation or make it drastically worse for others because of its side effects.
If you are immunocompromised be sure to be up to date with your vaccinations and to wear a mask. If you are not immunocompromised get the vaccine is a choice.

Well, it can't necessarily prevent it, but you are at a lesser risk of getting it than people who don't wear masks.
The masks reduces transmission of the virus by 50% so yes they work. That's why doctors and nurses have worn them for years to prevent contamination...
The mask blocks the path of fine saliva droplets that escape when you speak or cough and sneeze to you and others. I can't tell you if it catches even the smallest particles, but you run a lower risk of becoming a partner in the spread of covid.
It can prevent you from getting others sick because it catches saliva and particles that could go into the air if you sneeze or cough. It wont do much to protect you from people who don't wear a mask though.
did drywall and used a n-95 mask, the drywall dust goes right through the n-95 mask, so wearing a mask for covid which is 10 times smaller than drywall dust seems senseless.
Think of it like this:
A jet of water usually shoots in a direct stream, but if something were placed in front of it, the water would be displaced into something that doesn't travel as far.
Do I think masks protect you from COVID? Sure. I also think living your life in a plastic bubble will protect you from COVID. I also think throwing yourself in a wood chipper will protect you from COVID. Just because something works, doesn’t make it a good idea.

Mask; does little or nothing to protect the wearer. It protects others(some), from the germs and bacteria you breathe, cough, sneeze out. But only if you wear and use it correctly.
Social distancing; May actually help both when in populated/crowded areas, inside or outside. However, taking a bus, subway, train, airplane, elevator, or even a car with multiple people in it, to get to the crowd, can and does defeat the social distancing unless you know for sure that those you are sharing the ride with don't have it.
Vaccine; does not prevent you from getting covid, it just lessens the degree of sickness in most people(they think).
It's kind of like walking out in front of a truck, and they say he would have lived longer if he had not done that. Makes sense but there really is no proof the person would have taken even one extra breath. Nobody can really prove who would have had a severe or light case without the vaccine.
Prior to vaccination a lot of people got covid and never ended up in the hospital. Go back and listen to the "experts" when they said up to 20% or more may have covid but be A symptomatic, meaning no symptoms or so light that they don't associate it with having covid.
I'll agree with the numbers on the vaccine, it seems to help. The proof: In highly vaccinated areas, the death and hospitalisation rates seem to be reduced. However, the same can be said about highly infected areas. After the first massive wave enough people have natural immunity or resistance, so that the next wave doesn't kill or put as many in the hospital either.
MPO, The problem is not the unvaccinated. It is the people vaccinated or not that think they are safe or don't care if they get it. That take no precautions and could be out there spreading it around and not even know.
I also don't think we should live in fear and live with masks and not hugging or socializing forever. Treatment medication, and procedures are there and should be prioritized. If you get it then dying or extended hospital stays could be prevented. Of course that doesn't have the fear, controlling, and money factor benefits that certain governments or leaders want. There has been a wind fall of money and power given because of covid. Why would they want to stop it.
That is why you wear a life preserver whenever you are not on a boat. So you won't drown. And you take aspirins so your neighbors won't get headaches.
I think a lot of things about covid and all that is associated with it, none of it good.
Just taking off the mask for a few seconds and breathing in the covid virions is enough to cause an infection.
