Do you use cash or credit?
Just wondering for those who use cash, what's the point? Why don't you just swipe a card which is much easier?

Cash is the best because —
no credit card fee
Let's you see and understand how much you're spending
It's ancient. Makes you feel ancient, which for me, is a good thing
Security problem. If someone sees your pin then they can steal money
People always assume you have more money in the bank than at home. So they'll steal your credit card
If 1 card is lost then all is lost (I know, not accurate). But if 1 dollar is lost, not much is lost
You have to be a certain age to have credit cards. Children cannot have them. But they can have cash. Cash is universal.
There are more reasons, but I cannot think of any more as of now.
G'day.
I think it's a bad idea for everyone to stop using cash. When you use a card, you're relying on the bank in order to make that purchase. You basically need to run your purchase past the bank first before you can make it, you're basically asking permission from the bank to use your own money to buy that item. You might think it's not like they can refuse you buying something though, but they could. There's every possibility of them blocking transactions in the future if those transactions go against their own interests, eg. if you want to donate to an organisation or political party that speaks out against the banks/government (MasterCard has already prevented people donating to WikiLeaks). And if we had no other way of paying for things, then we'd be screwed. They'd have complete control over us of how we can spend our own money, and so it would severely limit not only our financial freedom, but our freedom in general as a society. At the moment, the banks/governments want to do away with cash under the pretence that they're just trying to modernise and make things more convenient for everyone, but really it's because it'd make us dependent on the banks for 100% of our financial transactions. So I'll always use cash, and I'll keep using it for as long as possible. People who think credit cards are modern and trendy, and cash is old fashioned, may judge me. But I can take satisfaction in the fact that they're just clueless about what's really going on.
This is why I've always supported cryptocurrency for digital purchases though, and I'll always use that when possible. Crypto is a monetary system created and owned by the people, not controlled by banks and the government (it was created in response to the governments and banks causing the 2008 recession). And it's also completely private (if you use it right). Sadly though, crypto is being spoiled by people who don't even know anything about it, and who just see it as a get-rich-quick scheme. Hopefully that will change soon though, once the investment hype around it has died down.
Not to mention its a prophecy in the bible that in the end of times there will be no cash. You see it already in China they banned cash and money even expires in your bank account eventually. Ive heard most businesses in Sweden dont accept cash either. And they seize cash in the USA if you are caught with a lot of it and they force you to prove it's legit even tho in the constitution the burden is on them to prove its not. You're supposed to be innocent UNTIL proven guilty
I use cash when I buy things in person, but I use my debit card for online purchases and getting paid. Sometimes I use my debit card if I have no cash on hand, but I usually have cash on hand.
Cash for almost all routine in store purchases. Because if I don't have the cash in my pocket than I probably don't need it. Note that I paid off about $45,000 in CC debt using that method. I have not had any CC debt since I paid all that off about 17 years ago as I pay off the CCs every month.
CC's are for emergency use or internet purchases, and on rare occasions for a multi-hundred dollar local purchase.
cash is best, no tracking by the system, no one can steal your identity, no fee from the credit card company or bank, you spend only what you have and dont put yourself into debt by spending something you dont have.
It depends on the situation. I typically don't like to carry a lot of cash on me (it's much easier to cancel cards if anything happens than it would be to try to recover lost or stolen cash), so I tend to use my card more, also for convenience purposes (like at the gas station). I will use cash for smaller purchases and things like admittance to the local pool or mini golf course.
cash around town for minor shit
credit for multiple hundredsa dollars purchases
wire transfer or cashiers checks for bigger
and debit cards can fuck off to jupiter
Within the USA Credit Cards have Federal Consumer Protections - and they work.
Debit cards have only the protections that the banks decide to grant you, which can vary on a situation by situation basis.
I've known people who have had fraudulent charges on their Debit Cards that the banks refused to do anything about and they had to personally eat the loss. That would not happen with a fraudulent CC charge.
I personally do not have and will not get a debit card for just that reason. I have Credit Cards for online and certain other purchases. I've also had an assortment of fraudulent charges on my CC cards in the past - and never had to pay a single one. I've also been able to cancel purchases I made after delivery where the item or service purchased did not live up to the claims or was defective and the company refused to replace it (in a timely manner). CC's have great consumer protections.
if theres fraud or problems with a credit card its up to them to get it straight and once they do ill pay em
if they dont get it straight ill tell em to go fuck themselves and not pay
if theres fraud or problems with a debit card its straight outta your bank account and the bankll give you a pilea homework and drag their feet makin it your problem and meanwhile you might not be able to pay for your daily expenses
Credit. Its simpler.
Cons. In case the world ends your digital money isnt worth shit. Then again so is normal paper currency too so, its back to good ol gold.
Which how it's so spread out and relatively speaking is easy to aquire/determine/process.
I use credit for all my purchases. I don't carry a balance at the end of the month because I pay the bill before the month ends. Then at the end of the year I use the accumulated points to get something nice for myself. XD
Sometimes you need to carry around cash to give to homeless people or to pay for small items
I always try to use a card except when the place charges extra to use it.
