Do you use the phrase "no homo"?

After saying something that may come across as homosexual (i.e. Complimenting another guy), do you feel you should say "no homo"? I hear it a lot and say it myself but I wanna know your opinions.

Yes I feel I should say no homo. 33

Most of the time when people say this, they're trying to be cool.
For example, when some macho guys hug, they'd pat each other on the back and say "no homo, man"
Personally, if they're going to have to say that to convince themselves that they aren't gay then it's kind of sad that they can't just hug their friends like normal human beings

I like to make fun of this phrase and some of the people who use it...walk up to my friend and say:

"Hey, do you wanna have anal sex? No homo."

No need to say no homo. I say what I want to say. If it sounds "gay", well I don't care. Lol

I don't say made-up phrases like that because they're stupid and people just say them because it's "trendy".

I hate it when people answer questions here and feel they have to explain that they are not gay, because they expect someone to refer to them as gay. We are what we are. Neither case is better, just different.

Im bisexual and MANY of my gay/bi/transgender friends find this phrase offensive. Its not like we all go around wanting to have sex with anyone of the same gender and I don't know this phrase just isn't right.

You really shouldn't ever have to say "no homo", but most people aren't comfortable with their own sexuality. They say "no homo" because they're insecure and it makes them feel better. I say it to my friends but only because I know they're insecure, most things stereotypically "homo" don't bother me unless they're clearly sexual.

I kind of agree with you in that it really isn't right. It degrades gays and bi people to being whores that only care about sex. Kinda sad...

i always figure when a guy says "no homo" it's because he really IS thinking about it in a homosexual way.

like that crazy guy from "American Beauty"

I feel people who say it are trying to hide something and arent confident with there sexuality its more gay to me to say no homo

I agree. If you have to add a disclaimer, it means you're not certain yourself.

  • Well if people feel like sayin 'no homo' let them... who gives a damn ?...

  • I hate the phrase. It's demeaning to gay or bi people. It's also generally rude. I don't say it and get annoyed if my friends say it.

Saying "no homo" means you ARE thinking about that person of the same sex in a sexual context.

    • wow you're soo dumb... it does NOT mean that at all lol, it just basically means they're NOT homos full stop.

If they're not homos, they wouldn't need to say it. If they aren't homos, they don't need to prove it.
