Does a 20 year old see a 30 year old as middle aged?

My sister is 20 I'm 31 I overheard her friends talking and one of them is dating a 30 year old and (not my sister) but her other friend said to the girl dating a 30 year old "why would you date a middle aged man?" And she said "I know he's middle aged but he still looks young and you can't help who you fall for" and then a different girl said "honey he's grooming you that's what middle aged men do"

Do 20 year olds think 30 is middle aged? I casually tried to ask my sister after that and she said "I don't know what middle aged really is" so idk what to make of it.

When I was 20 I didn’t see 30 as young but not middle aged, it depended on the person some 30 year-olds felt like they were 4 life stages ahead of me, others I would talk to for a while and barely notice an age gap.

Why does it matter what 20 year-olds think anyway? Kids will always think you’re old, shake your cane at them and move on.

No. It's just something to look forward to. 40-50 is middle aged as the average death age is 80

A really “special“ twenty year old that didn’t learn any math may.

I never did at that age, nor any age. 30 has always still been young to me. Middle age is more in the 40's to 50's range to me.

    20yos (because they're 'invincible') sees 30 as being old/middle aged, 30 sees 40, but 40 just doesn't give a s*** anymore and couldn't care less. I'm almost 50 btw. :)

I'm thirty now but I alwaysconsidered 35 to be middle-aged, now I think it's 40 though, lol. Although over the last few years I've started to see 18-22 year olds as basically children tbh. I don't mean that in a snarky jealous way either, just they seem so young.

I'm almost 27 and feel the same way regarding 18-22 year olds, despite not being terribly older than them myself, lol. I feel as if a lot of change happens between those ages and mid to late 20's (at least it did for me; I'm nowhere near the same person I was 5-10 years ago).

26 is around the time alot of things started changing for me. They say thats around the time your brain is fully developed which makes sense.

That makes sense for me too. Current day me is exponentially different than early 20's me, that is for sure!

I feel like 40 is the universal age that almost everyone can agree that by the time you reach you are definitely middle aged. Late 30’s are borderline and kind of depend on the context. The characters in the movie Step Brothers for example I believe are 39- and 40 years old. For the sake of plot purposes, I’d say that’s two middle aged men who never grew up. I think 35 is around the time you can start calling someone loosely middle aged without it sounding too weird, even if not everyone agrees with the term. 30 is a bit weird to call middle aged. Anything below 30, of course, would be downright absurdity to call middle aged. 30 is the absolute bottom limit within the context of sane discussion.

I think 45-50 is the start. 40 year olds I know look and act no different than 30 and I'm in my 30s and people still call me kiddo no one will call me middle aged by 40 that's for sure people still mistake me for being under 21. So imo it's more mid 40s+ and people are living longer. My great grandma was over 100 when she passed so putting middle aged at 35 or 40 is a bit too early

Some good points. Maybe in some ways middle aged is a “you know it when you see it” sort of thing. Kind of like elderly is a “you know it when you see it” sort of thing.

30 year old often has more to offer a woman than another 20 year old. Hes more likely to have a home and have money and cars and stuff.
