I think it manifests itself from confidence problems but when a comment of mine gets thumbed down I take it personally. I know that its just a stranger and i shouldn't care but I then start to wonder if I belong here or that other people on here hate me. Is this normal?
You know, if you use the search bar and look up thumbs down or some variant of the term, you will find that there are people here that'll thumb your comments down just because.
In addition, I'd say general disagreement of opinion would be another reason why they'd thumb your comment down, assuming your comment isn't blatantly offensive or tasteless. Also, if you try to crack at being humorous or sarcastic and no one finds it funny, you'll get thumbsed. Personal experience.
Fair warning, though. I'm pretty much a nobody here and I have gotten followed or given shit by people who genuinely didn't like the Neptune of my Neuro. If you attract enough attention, it'll happen. After a while, you learn to ignore this shit.
There are some people here that no matter what get thumbed down. I have concluded that these people have enemies that track their comments just to thumb it down. There are comments that are thumbed down not because they are shitty but because some people simply don't share the same opinions and that is sad. I think this thumb down option should be used on comments that are racist, that contains too much swear words and for trolls.
Now, how do you judge the comments you leave here?? Are they offensive to a particular race, religion etc..?
Ahahaha my comments get thumbed down whenever I reply to someone that a lot of people don't like and I be nice to them :) Just ignore it, don't take it personally, a lot of times they just thumb down your comment just because. They don't really even read your comment sometimes, it's more like they're abusing it, as if they're saying, "I like this person, so I'll just thumb them up", regardless of the comment or the question/poll. :s
Chances are, the person who thumbed you down is a jerk. I know it can be annoying. But if your comment is good, the thumbs down really won't be a reflection of you. Most users can see through the thumbs.
Nah i don't care people are gonna disagree with you no matter what you put.
I will not thumb down tasteless or offensive comments. I simply reply in an equally tasteless or offensive manner.
