Does anyone else feel they are going too far with technology?

I strongly feel they are going way too far with AI technology especially, but other areas as well and I am curious in others' input as well.

For instance, Amazon and their robot technologies they want to use for deliveries and their Whole Foods Market buyout. I feel slowly people are going to be phased out of jobs more and more.

Sexbots...I suppose there are just some people who can't get a date, but to fuck a robot??

Genetic modifications of just about everything these days. They've already ruined food with this and now they are talking about genetically modifying our pets...

There's so much more but this post would be a mile long! I just feel like that movie with Will Smith and the killer robots is an actual possibility for the future.

Unsure 11
Keep the technology coming 19
They are going to far 25
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

Robotics is raising the standard of living for almost everybody. Sorry to digress to sex, but there is nothing like real people and real love. Nevertheless, some people want real partners to behave as if they were robots. These are the future customers for the intimate robots of the future.

i was watching some porn and saw this machine robot thing fucking a womans asshole. Man it was pounding her good too. i was thinking i bet she has a lot of money invested in that machinery , i wonder if she shares it with her sister or other house guests. then i just started to think how high her electric bill was getting and what if all women on earth were using an asshole fucker. I decided they contribute way too much for the global warming issue. and they will destroy earths environment faster than it destroyed that ass.

You sound like the Unabomber. I'm glad you are locked up in the Supermax prison in Colorado. Safely tucked away for the rest of your life. Quite a change from your little cabin isn't it?

The more I think about this the more I feel technology is not moving fast at all.

There have been no new technologies in my lifetime I am aware of.

Prior generations got tv's and phones, cars and planes, fridges and microwaves.

We haven't gotten anything new. There hasn't even been a new game console developed in my lifetime.

    Technology is crap.

      - 5g internet
      - fingerprint technology
      - WIFI
      - numerous video game systems
      - drones
      - 3D printing advancements
      - Apple Watch
      - driverless cars

NO WAY!!! What do you class as smart? Internet was only invented in the 80s, to me a smart phone is iPhones, Samsung, google etc, nothing prior to that.

All this stuff was around way before Nikkiclaire.

Also they are aiming to use drones to help patrol beaches and detect danger, this would be nice to save lives in this fashion, I believe some technology advances are gratuitous as they are not gonna improve majorly important areas of our lives but a lot will.

It's true, your generation killed innovation. Parents were too busy babying you to pursuit any creative interests in their free time.

I use the generally recognized first smartphone by IBM in 1992.

Use apple all you want as a guide because they are hardly tearing up innovation. I-phone X??? That'd be 10 iterations. Not new.

The internet was generally considered to have come about with TCP/IP in 1983.

Do have any idea what refrigeration did for that generation, the car, phones, television.

We just moved music and movies from disks to devices.

Like I said, I will give you 3-d printing. That could turn out to be amazing but it isn't there yet.

            Until then.....snore.....

I see your point, they were massive inventions at the time, yeah maybe there’s not that much new as new models of phones get released but there’s still some improvements, good point but it does help improve, like you no longer to carry around a bulky CD player should you want to listen to music on a jog, 3D printing yeah exactly could be amazing, we will get there I feel, also don’t forget about stem cell research that could very well be a very big part of the future of medicine.

The SIMON by IBM wasn't a flip phone. It had a monochrome display and looked like a brick but it wasnt a flip phone.

I said NEW technology. These are all just improvements of things that already existed.

3D printing might be one but thats hardly earth shattering. I have never even used one.

I have a friend who's kid uses a 3D printer. It's insane what those things can do.
Although not considered earth shattering to us, it's used in many ways today. Not to mention it's now affordable to the common consumer where not 5 years ago only a company could afford.
You are correct. So many things we use and need in today's world that is technology driven.

        • Carlton03

Yes but if they make improvements those things will greatly improve society, you can argue that major developments can make it classed as NEW, hardly earth shattering? You kidding, please watch a documentary on the topic if you like, I watched one the other day and they are projecting that we could printing human internal organs in as little as five years, they have already printed things such as ears and noses as tests for future potential. I think that’s pretty earth shattering!

I clicked unsure because I am. :) They are making great strides in AI technology. I think they need a breakthrough as with current technology the robot or whatever can choose an option to solve a particular problem. The technology must evolve where the robot can figure out a "plan B" on its own.

I see a future where robots will be very common. And maybe in the far future where it will be difficult to tell if the thing standing before you is human or robot.

We need more technology to stop technology!

It won't be long before the government puts restrictions on technology. Whatever they feel is good for us they'll make it a law. Whatever isn't good for us, but they say is, they'll make even more laws.

Technology is in our everyday lives. Sadly without it today the world wouldn't run correctly. It's irreversible at this point.

  • I think that humans can only really progress with the advancement of technology, that if our species is to grow it's by technological advancements.

It'll probably be our downfall too, though.

The purpose of food is to keep you alive. Since you are posting, my guess is you are alive, so how is food ruined?

Pets have been genetically modified for hundreds, thousands of years. That's how they can be pets and not wild animals that will eat your face in the middle of the night.

Amazon drones are just little helicopters. DaVinci designed helicopters a long fucking time ago.

I am kind of bored with technology. There aren't viable sex robots. Very few new things have come along in the past 10 years or really since I've been alive.

I think technology is mostly hype. I could do without it to be perfectly honest.

Another thing about Amazon and their "technology". They have distributions centers where they treat people like slaves and have them run around gigantic warehouses picking orders all day for minimum wage. They hire and burn through thousands of temp laborers each month and basically piss on them for their trouble.

Their "technology" is a large labor pool of poor, young and hungry workers who are sold on a lie.

    • Right so the fact that GMO foods are restricted in more than 60 countries is a good thing? I haven't touched GMO food in years which is why I'm alive and healthier than most. Answer this questions for me then, how is it that many Americans are considered obese and malnourished at the same time? GMO foods have been proven to cause health problems. Do your research sweetheart.

I do my own research which is why I know you are believing a lie.

You do know what genetics are right?

Americans are obese because crap food is cheap and there are a lot of poor people. The majority of this food is corn based which is mostly undigestable for humans.

American society was also designed around cars so few people ever walk more the 20 ft to get anywhere.

They also have laws which make it a crime to force fat, lazy, people to exhurt themselves at all, if they protest.

        • I do agree with you regarding food being tampered with for a very long time regarding things like seedless watermelons and such, however, 100 years ago they werent using poisonous herbicides and pesticides they are today. Ever hear of Monsanto and Roundup Ready? It has been proven this shit they are using is linked to various forms of cancer, environmental issues, and various others. The ones in charge of safety and regulations are the same ones profiting from this garbage and of course they aren't going to report the negative consequences. I also agree with you regarding corn and it being a crime to force lazy people to exhurt themselves that's a whole other conversation in itself.

I asked about genetics because crops have been genetically modified since the dawn of civilization. You eat GMO all the time, there is no possible way to avoid it. All food is genetically modified.
