Does god support gay rights?

I know that god loves all of his children, but I've noticed that many religious people don't support gay rights. Are they obeying the will of god, or is this something they're doing on a personal level? Both?

He supports Gay Rights. 203

I saw a great billboard once. It read:

"Contrary to popular belief, I do not hate gays"

He does not hate gays or anyone. He hates the acts of sexual immorality. He loves everyone, but hates our sins. Homosexuality is not God's plan for us.

        God's plan?

What you believe is and is not immoral has nothing to do with plans. It isn't your place to judge.

God in my eyes is not personified or metaphorical. My God is anyone and everything. So to ask if the universe supports gay rights I'd have to say yes because they make up what this universe IS. They make up the balance just as much as you an I.

LISTEN UP, PEOPLES! God is a loving, caring God, and he doesn't "hate" homosexuals. They're still his children, his creation, and he loves them. HOWEVER! The Bible does say that marriage is between MAN and WOMAN. He doesn't like the fact they're homosexual and he frowns upon it, but he's not against them and he doesn't hate them, he just knows it isn't right.

If God was real, and the Bible was His words, he would not support Gay rights because the Bible contradicts them. That said, the Bible is full of contradictions, who's to say which one is true, or if any of them are?

You're thinking of the old testament, the book that gives the context to the new testament which tell the story of Jesus whose example Christians should try to follow. Jesus does nto contradict himself and his message is one of love, forgiveness and the acceptance of all. So yes Christianity should deffinately be in favor of gay rights

It depends on what you mean... you have a loaded question and you don't define your terms. If by gay rights you mean does God (that's the Biblical God) recognize their relationships as a marriage than no he does not for 2 reasons, homosexual ACTS (not the people the act) are and abomination so he can't "give his seal of approval" so to speak, but more importantly in the Biblical view of marriage, marriage is a symbol of Christ (the husband) and the church (the wife) it loses its symbolic power if there are 2 husbands or 2 wives.

In saying that we must also acknowledge the other side. If by "gay rights" you mean their right to live unmolested, their right to choose to be with whoever they like regardless of it is good or bad, wrong or right, then yes God does acknowledge those rights (amongst all other rights we would call inherent rights) because he acknowledges all peoples right to free will and choice.

People tend to make a false dichotomy in such situations. Being told your wrong is not the same as being unloved. Being told your not given approval Is not the same as being told you CANNOT freely decide for yourself. I'd like to go on so I could explain more in depth but I've been long winded enough.

God doesn't support gay rights and God made us this way because this is God big test for us to get rid of gay urges, God loves us all but in a gay sex it's against God and Christian, Muslim and Jewish, Do you have any idea why? WHY? Because it's making the world ends cause of not giving a birth. And its like you taking over God creator and laws.

I am gay by the way

people have been against gays since the Christianity was first made up it was such a disgusting act back then that it was used to bring down the first and most well known powerful and protected by the pope christian/catholic military orders the Templar, the allegation alone was enough to have people excommunicated so its no wonder to this day there is a degree of this sort of thinking

According to my religion ... being gay isn't a sin, but acting on it is. However abusing people for their sexual preference is also a sin.... and if anything it's even a worse sin because it's intentionally causing pain and hatred.

Depends what ya mean on " gay rights". If you're talking about the right to marriage and all, f#ck no. Do I personally get a problem with it? No. But according to the bible marriage is between man and a woman and gays sleeping with each other deserves stoning. I'm just getting this straight from the bible. Does god want his creation to be happy? Yes. But is god going tolerate sin ? No. I'm not even a religious person but I'm simply laying down the facts. I don't know how anyone who clearly knows God is against same sex marriage would think god with fight for it same time.

argument is one of the good things about religion. It can help people see right and see Jesus, learn to question. If there were no religion, there were be no God. If there were no God, there would be no "you". Christianity isn't a religion, it's a relationship. God is our heavenly father, better than our blood-relation-Earthly father. He is not only a father, but he is our God, and our best friend. But we are not born into it, it is a choice. Just because you were born into a Christian family, it doesn't make you Christian. You yoursef have to chose.

You are alive because of God. He created you, and he send his only son down to Earth to DIE. Would your parents send you to die? Why did he do it? He did it because of his love for us, his care for us. He did it to cleanse us, wash our sin and dirtiness away. He did it because he cares. Somebody DIED for YOU. The least you could do is love him back.

  • Doesn't God love all His children. "All" meaning everyone. The way I've always saw it, if God created everything, all possibilities, then he wouldn't find a problem with gay people and their rights. If He was really omniscient, surely He'd of known about this when he created men and women?

well yes. He loves us as his children. Although, in the Bible it says marriage is between a man and a woman. Yes he cares, but he frowns upon it, isn't too happy with it.

      • But if He didn't want gay people to be, wouldn't he have forseen the possibility of it happening and not let it happen? I know what the Bible says about Sodom and it being destroyed but wouldn't he strike again?

Homosexual marriage is man made, not Godly, not approved by God. He foresees everything, but he gave men and women free will to seek him out and follow his commandments. Those who refuse have only one consequence after death.

          Comment Hidden ( show )
  • Isn't it somewhere in the bible that laying with a man in the way you would a woman is wrong?
I'm not saying God exists or that he doesn't but I'm sure that if you are going by that type of God then he wouldn't support homosexual rights.

I don't believe God is real and I don't disbelieve that he's real. As a species it's out of our distance to get the right answer on the subject. Long story short, I think homosexuals should get the same rights as everyone else but it's in the Bible that it's wrong, it's like saying "does God support murder" and someone can say the same thing, that God supports everyone.

If there is a God I don't think that the Bible is filled with Gods will because God is suppost to be all knowing and if he is all knowing then wouldn't he of known that some of his children would infactbe homosexual?

It's the same when priests say "Marijuana is the devils work" and then you say "but marijuana is a plant and something God created, are you saying God made a mistake?" Then they make all sorts of stupid excusses up.

God is true, God is real. If he were "make-believe" like Santa, we wouldn't be here today to know Santa, let alone our own name. If he were make believe, history wouldn't have proven facts that the God's written predictions in the Bible came true. If he were make believe, why would so many people believe? You may say that isn't a good example, because there are Catholics and other religions, and Santa there are all the children...but with the other religions, they believe in A god, just not THE God. And with Santa, well, people find out he is fake sooner or later. So why haven't we yet found out that God is fake? Why haven't there been FACTS to prove he isn't real, but facts to prove he is? Why are you here, if he weren't real, where would we have come from? If you believe evolution, where did the monkeys come from; the planets, stars, and sun couldn't have just apeared and had life, something has to begin it all.

        That "something" is God.
