Does it count as a drug problem if i’m in pain?

Привет
A couple years ago I had a drug problem with prescription pain killers. But, it wasn’t an addiction as much as it was I had serious pain that needed to be managed.

Eventually I built a tolerance and was taking more than originally prescribed, but that’s because I was still in pain and needed the relief. Was I dependent on the pills? Yes, in the sense that I couldn’t function when in pain.

I had corrective surgery to make the pain more manageable, and I quit taking the pain meds pretty easily after that. I didn’t have any trouble with withdrawal, and never attempted to take anything other than what was prescribed (besides taking too much)

Would this still be labeled a drug problem?

Still counts as a drug problem 4
It’s a complicated drug problem 6
Does not count as a drug problem 14
Other opinion 1

Nah dude, that's not a drug problem. Your body naturally developed a tolerance so you had to manage your levels appropriately. That you could up your dose then just quit when the problem went away shows that not only do you have the willpower to resit drugs for pleasure at normal prescription levels, but that you can do it at even higher than normal levels.

Honestly, I would recommend doing drugs for pleasure, dude. You sound like someone who could regulate himself, end up having a good time, and then know when to call it quits.

Yeah, screwing around with opioids is something most people can manage with no problem. Ugh.

Everything stated after you said "honestly" is horrendous advice.

Yea plus think of your body. That crap isnt good for ya, just look at meth teeth. How fan anyone know that's what will happen and still think it's a good idea?

If someone ever forced me into a meth addiction and ruined my teeth like that I would probably try and kill them once I kicked it.

        Drugs are not worth it

You only ever hear about the drug addicts who can't deal with it. The vast majority of my friends who have done drugs, even hard drugs like morphine, haven't become homeless drug addicts.

I bet you have 0 experience of using recreational opiods and know close to nothing about them other than what you've seen/heard on the media.

Also I never even specified fucking with opiods; the guy has willpower to avoid opiods when he wants, he could easily apply that to something like mcat, ecstacy or a myriad of other drugs.

Was it defo proper mcat, dude? If it didn't feel like snorting razor blades then it was probably cut with something; also, you can sort most comedowns out with benzos.

Yep I sniffed loads of it over the course of like a year, it was just cheap and easy to make your money back on it in one night

True. If you play russian roulette with a standard 6 round revolver, only one out of 6 who play will blow their brains out. I'd bet you recommend doing that as well.

Dude, I'm an alcoholic, have dabbled in many drugs and thank God, I hated them all and dodged the bullet. The legal, widely acceptable one got me hooked tho.

I used to do cocaine for parties but only cause I was trying to keep up and it made me look cool. I’ve tried a few other things before, wasn’t for me.

But nahhh drugs aren’t my thing, I have enough pleasure in my life to be satisfied. Although I definitely think I have the sort of self control for it, I don’t care to use anything. Besides vodka and cigarettes.

And I’ve served time before, I have a little extra layer of pressure to follow the rules lol

Yeahhh because it’s very friendly and casual, like g’day, hey, or ‘sup.
For formal greetings like to an elder or a boss or to be polite you can use Здравствуйте, pronounced Zdrahst-voot-yeh

I went through a phase a few years back of taking prescription drugs recreationally, like subutex, pregabalin, codeine and I even smoked fentanyl once (that was amazing) and never felt like I was in danger of getting addicted. Looking back I realise how dangerous it was and if someone else was doing the same thing I'd be worried about them.

What was fentanyl like, man? I've done codeine, poppy tea opium, but I've never really explored the harder side of opiates.

        • Boojum

Regardless of what the fentanyl experience feels like, it's clearly a fucking dangerous drug to mess around with when you're relying on backroom amateur pharmacists to get your dosage right.

It was like floating on a cloud, all my stress and anxiety went away and I felt really comfortable and confident. It was a patch, we cut it up into 16 tiny squares and you get like a tiny puff of smoke, it's hard to believe such a small amount could do anything but it was strong as fuck. I definitely wouldn't do it again though.

Ye, I think the patches are straight from the hospital. You're right not to do it again; that's good willpower dude. Something as hard as that probably isn't worth messing with more than once.

I know a dealer who some degree of free use of a prescription pad and he used to drive around fucked up on codeine and had like 20 bottles in his car :').

Have you tried purple drank, dude? (Codeine mixed with promethazine). It's really fucking nice, and being one of the lesser opiates the potential for abuse/ damage is a lot lower.

            • Fugazi,again

I've never tried purple drink but I've done cold water extraction with codeine or dihydrocodeine.

When I was staying in a hostel, people would just hand out pills like sweets, one day I did something like 200mg of codeine, 100mg of dihydrocodeine, 800mg of gabapentin, like 2mg of subutex and was smoking weed all day too. That's probably the highest I've ever been lol. It was fun until I projectile vomited and filled the sink to the top.

    Depends on who you ask.
They are using the term "addiction" very loosely now.
Common sense would say "no you didn't have a drug problem" but the stupid ass doctors would say yes.
No matter WHAT someone enjoys, even if just silly nicotine or sugar, they call it that.

Some people get very lucky and do not get withdrawals from opioids. I wish I was like that. Last time I tried to stop I felt like I was dying and after around 3 weeks I gave up because it wasn't getting better. Then I had a friend who could just go without for a week and be fine. Its crazy how some people do not get sick from it and others do.

An addiction is something you continue despite having negative consequences. Doesn't sound like you continued so nope.
