Does researching take the fun out of writing a story?

When you are writing a story, especially based on real people, places, things, and events, should research be vital in the process of story-writing, or should it be 100% creativity?

Well, if you want the readers of your story to actually like it, I recommend you do your research because chances are, someone might know what you're writing about and if it's wrong, the story is killed. At least, that's what happens to me. For example, I read a story about someone who is diabetic like myself. The author did get the details of that right or else I would've completely lost interest in the story.

Sometimes, its a good idea to research what you are writing about. If the story is set in the past, you'll have to really research about that time period. If you don't then some of your readers may criticize you for getting details or ways of life completely wrong. Also, its good to research even if your book isn't set in the past.

i think it makes it more interesting when you take something real and twist it around to fit some other theory that suggests something entirely different. if that makes any sense. ok like saying that werewolves exist: we all know normal wolves exist so why not people who shapeshift into them?

Well I made up a story and included a beach so called Ruby Beach but I didn't know that it really existed^^

You can use real location and make up some different story!
    Just use your fantasy^^

The problem with a lot of writers today is that they get an idea for a story before they have the facts, then when it's time to write the story, it's more important to them to stick to their wonderful ideas than it is to stick to the truth. I've seen this in the so-called news. If your intent is to be creative, what are you writing about actual events for? If you don't think research is important to something that's supposed to be true, what do you think the end result will be? The creative treatment of the truth is a lie.
