So I woke up to the most disgusting thing ever. My dog was licking her butt like full out! I told her to stop but she kept on going. I waited about three minutes (oh yes, I did count) and she still didn't stop!
I finally got out of bed and shooed her out of the room into the hall, where then she sat down and went to it again!
She did stop a little while later but I haven't seen her this obsessed with licking it before.
From what I could tell there was nothing wrong with her, so tell me, is this behavior normal for a dog?

    She does that when you're asleep then proceeds to lick your face.

    Dogs dont have hands and can't grasp toilet paper, thus one of 2 things,

    1: dog drags ass on floor.... Rids ass of poo on rugs
    2: dog uses tongue

      You don't know dogs very well. Most dogs do not NEED toilet paper. Unlike humans who eat too much, too often, and often rich and fatty food, dogs' diets are more balanced and they eat far less than humans and so there is better digestion and less more firm stool than any human.

      So BOTH of your assumptions are wrong! See my comment for what is really going on when a dog licks too much. You might learn a bit about dogs.

    Could be her anal glands need clearing, you can take her to vets or do it manually (read it up) or feed her little bit of rice & when she poops SHOULD clear it up, is there a fishy smell?

    This as described is NOT normal. Dogs will lick thier butt from time to time, but incessant licking is a sign of one of two things:

    1)Your dog's anal glands are impacted or worse, infected.

    2)Your dog has a food allergy or less likely an allergy to something else in her environment.

    In either case, if this continues don't "giggle" and think it's gross. Get her to a vet. A dog doesn't need TP and they are uncomfortable if they are licking frantically for many minutes at a time as you described.

    I find it kind of amusing that people get pets and then dislikes when they display normal and healthy behaviour xD

      I tend to think dogs and cats are cleaner than a lot of people. I kiss my Siamese and my sister's Poodle on the lips all the time. I don't think it's gross at all.

        I do this too! Only exception is if I have JUST seen said dog/cat lick their own ass. Then I just lick their cheek or something xD
