Dog phobia and how do i overcome it?

When I was young I had been scared of
them, especially when I was in a park I saw some guys dog charging at me and licking me and I got scared. Their barks intimidate me, people tell me its alright when their dog comes closer to me but when I get near one I feel goosebumps and also the phobia of one mauling me to death.

I want some advice on how to overcome it so I can feel less scared.

Is my phobia normal?

People worship dogs these days. Like if a dog barks and threatens a person, the person is blamed for walking the wrong way, but a human could never threaten another human like that.

They shit in the streets to make it awkward and unhygienic to manoeuvre around

Pitbulls are infantilised as cute and innocent, ignoring the statistics pertaining to their violent behaviours, as they maul children and old people to death.

Water is left outside for dogs, but the homeless are ignored.

They are taken out of their natural, wild and free state to be decorative and amusing, entertainment to people who leave them at home for hours and come back later. No socialisation with other dogs, no freedom, no challenges.

Try holding a puppy. Interacting with a a friendlier breed like a poodle or Labrador. Be with someone who makes you feel safe.

I can completely understand your phobia of dogs.

You need to kill a dog, once you do it you will realise you are stronger than them. Good idea is to bludgeon a dog with a bat. A slow kill is best.

There are phobia support groups to help you desensitize yourself to your fear. You could also go to dog groups and ask them if you can interact with the dogs at your own pace.
