Doing something even though you know it's pointless

I always tend to do this, for example looking for keys in a place you know they won't be in or for example just now I'm going to a cash machine even though I know there's no logical reason for any money to be there at all.

Does anyone else ever find themselves doing something like this and iin?

I think it's quite normal to the point that there is a wonderful saying; "Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." I guess we are ALL a little bit insane.
I find myself doing this with my mechanical equipment on the boat. If something (an engine, motor, refrigeration, air conditioner, etc.) is not acting properly, I will turn it on and off and on again, hoping against hope that it will have fixed itself between ons. Hasn't happened yet, but I'll keep trying until I give up and fix it.

Unless your immortal. Though either way, stupidity is endless. >.<

I usually ask questions that I already know the answer to (not on here - IRL) - mostly to see how the replies vary or something like that - not really for the actual answer of the question.

But yeah - I do that a lot too. It's normal.

Voting. When I know the system is flawed.
