Douse yard with gasoline as weed prevention

I am tired of doing yard work every three months and I was wondering if soaking the dirt with gasoline would make it permanently toxic to plants. It seems like the easiest way. Weed blankets, concrete or wood chips seems like way too much work.

Nice way to kill everything on your lawn, including grass and potentially start a fire.

Just use weed killers like the rest of us. If you want a dead lawn - as said by jethro... salt water.

A good way to start a brush fire. Gasoline should never be used for anything but motor fuel. Get yourself some Roundup but wear gloves and a mask because that shit causes cancer.

    not toxic enough

bust out the radioactive pellets from a few thousand smoke detectors and spread em around the yard

then spray mercury & asbestos on topa that

top it off with some crude oil

This will also prevent grass growing.

Creepy that this gets posted today, since this came up in my life just yesterday. The idea was to mix it with motor oil...

As others have said, however, it kills everything. Not just weeds. If you want to kill your entire lawn and leave only dirt, you could consider salt and a tarp. If you just want to kill weeds, you need to target the weeds and not, you know, every living soul within miles of your yard. If you're going to douse your entire property in gasoline, you might as well get a flamethrower.

You fundamentally dont understand why that wont work.

Gasoline will be washed out of the soil and new weeds will sprout up. That's why weed killers only work for a limited amount of time. They have the power to be that deadly to said weeds it's just its diluted and eventually wash out of the ground that's the problem.

It's not the poison that's the problem its staying on the ground that's the problem. Salt on the other hand stays in the topsoil, preventing the roots from obtaining water. It's not as select as weedkiller but if you want results good ol salt does the trick.

It will drain into a runoff into the creeks and then into the river in the water with the fish. A gallon of gas fucks up hundreds of gallons of water. People complain about corporations polluting and they shut the companies down and send them to china for it but then they go home and pour gasoline and oil in their own yards.

Just use salt water. It's cheaper.
