Being drunk just makes you free to do the things you secretly wanted to do anyway.
im 52 year old woman and married 30 years .i dont drink or do drugs .over 30 years . but i did alot when younger . any night i drank or did drugs i always ended up having drunk sex with anyone and everyone . i didnt care who . or even how many . i had affairs .i had 3somes i even had sex with 3 men at a party in front of everyone on a table . and why drink and drugs . when i look back i think why did i let myself be like that .but i got over it took long time . but can be done
It is said that when people are drunk the real feelings and emotions come out.
Beer and gin were drunk in Victorian England because the water was poisonous the Queen's grandson (future King) died of it.
Good ol alchol. Getting guys laid since it became intoxicant rather than a important part of staying alive
What for disinfecting water? Pretty sure the widespread love of tea and coffee solved that before proper clean water systems were invented. Still alcohol was one of the factors for humans to go from hunter gathering to agricultural lifestyles.
It didn't. Anyone who knows anything knows that alcoholic beverages were used for a long time before teas and coffee became popular. Teas and coffee became popular in Europe during the 17th century. Until then, alcoholic beverages were 1) a really good way to store crops, and 2) were generally safer than water.
Of course it's easy to produce and nearly every culture invented alchol of varying degrees of potency. It's such a useful substance for a variety of circumstances. If ethanol didnt exist I honestly thing we would only be in the iron age by now if not lower on the tech tree.
Well look at old sailor rations. Supposedly a gallon worth of beer was the daily ration of fluids as other sources of drink even fresh water would go bad. Something about microbes or something. Not to mention after the fall of rome people seemed to forget that shit plus drinking water = very bad things. So fermenting liquids and giving it a light alchol allowed it to be stored and be used for consumption safely.
Like how in medieval times beer was more bread than bear. It was just another essential food group. Alchol wasnt like alchol today.
As for tea and coffee well I dont know anything about either of those historically so I cant possibly comment
Alchol today is in way finer quality than before. Everything is in better quality now a days (air and light pollution is worse now for obvious reasons)
People forget how bland and terrible food was back then. They didnt have refrigeration nor the ability to get ingredients from nearly everywhere in the world. So honey and cane sugar was the standard sweetener.
That bit about bread and beer is important because of yeast. An easy way to aquire natural yeast is by grabbing some foam from beer.
I cant tell if your trying to agree with me or disagree to be honest. I feel like we went from debate to agreement really quick there.
That's very true. Theres this channel on YouTube that goes on about 1800 cooking. Some of the stuff actually looks very good. Then again I'm a very boring person food wise. I would like to see something similar for older styles of cooking. I know meat wasnt as common as now. A bit of bread and cheese was a decent meal after a day in the field back then. God no butter though would truly suck.
I did not know that bit about the foam. I dont suppose you happen to know were one can get one of these bread beers now days? I would love to try one. Honestly it sounds delicious.
Just a discussion. I realized your position was superior to mine, so a shifted gears from an antagonistic stance to more of an intellectual one.
Beer bread is one of the simplest bread types you can make. Heck you can crack open most cold ones and use the foam from them with mixed results depending on if the yeast is still in the beer. If you have even the simplest kitchen set ups you can make bread. You can find a recipe online if it interests you. If you dont have a kitchen try a bakery, they might have a few loaves for you. If not maybe request it? Never had to buy beer bread cause my mother knew how to make it and it's not a common enough bread that I get a craving for it.
