Ear piercing i did 3 months ago still hurts

I pierced my own ear (right at the top of the cartilage) in February and it is still painful now but I don’t think it’s infected. I didn’t sterilise the needle or the earring before i did it but it has been 3 months and it isn’t swollen and doesn’t have pus oozing out of it anymore. It just hurts when I touch it and I can’t lie on that side without it being painful.

A plus one for letting the people do it that do it professionally. I would say take the jewelry out and let it air and maybe put peroxide on it, let it heal up. Startover.

Go to a doctor or a professional piercer, if it’s infected do not take it out, that encourages sepsis, wash it daily with a salt water solution or a VERY mild soap, like Castile. Don’t use hand soap, rubbing alcohol, or peroxide to clean it as it will make it dry out and delay the healing process.. I’m a piercing apprentice and you really should have gone to a professional, piercing yourself with unsterile needles is very dangerous, take it from me, I pierced my nose at 13 with a sewing needle and a plastic nose stud, It kept getting infected and now I have a scar on the side of my nose... I also tried piercing my cartilage at Claire’s at 15 and it did not heal at all after 8 months. Best to be safe and go to a professional next time.

Take it out and get it done professionally because those piercings do take a really long time to heal 100%. By the sounds of it you’ll be wasting your time trying to make it better.

Make sure you don’t touch if you haven’t cleaned your hands and clean it with salt water.

Go to the doctor, and have your ear piercing examined, it might be infected. It's best to have a piercing done by a professional in a sterile environment.
