Effects of drugs on the body

I've seen a lot of talk on how not only drugs, but prescription drugs are really bad for you.

Lets say I take prescription drugs only when I really need it. For example once/twice a year for a week period if I'm really sick.

Is the impact on my life in long term big enough that I should care?
And if so, how big is the impact?

The liver does not "process" Any substances we put in our body! Amongst other things, the liver metabolises some TOXIC substances, helping them be ejected from the body. For one, not all drugs are toxic, two, the liver is only part of our bodys defences against toxins. The kidneys, lymphatic system, our intestines, respiratory tract and skin also play a part in detoxification.
Please, when it comes to health, substance misuse, or any other healthcare issues, either post actual fact, or keep quiet. It's dangerous to give out false information.

What drugs are you talking about? There are thousands of different types and some have adverse ("side") effects and some don't

  • If you are taking prescription drugs for a short time to recover from an illness, there are typically no long-term effects.
Abusing prescription drugs is a problem, not the drugs themselves and abuse typically involves pain killers.

    • That's exactly my thought but when I was discussing this with someone they totally disagreed and seemed to know what they were talking about. It made me unsure so I had to ask on here.

It still makes me worried seeing a lot of people claiming this is dangerous even when only consuming a little.

If I only take them when I really have to, I should be fine without having to worry? right?

      • If you are taking antibiotics (for illness or infection) when needed you’ll be fine.

All drugs are bad on your liver. If you can bear the pain it's best not to take them, but sometimes it can't be avoided.

ALL drugs are "bad on your liver"? Really? Please explain what you mean: some drugs are bad for the liver, but definitely not all

Any substance you put into your body is processed through your liver. No drug is good for it. In moderation it has a negligible affect but it's still something to avoid if possible.
