Elliot pages health is concerning

Im not against trans or anything I just dont think based on what we've seen of Elliot Page, formerly Ellen Page, lately looks very okay. In the recent interview with Oprah he looks malnourished and in pain. Just basically traumatized and sick. He can barely speak normally, eating disorder eating away at the brain? People with eating disorders have dysphoria, often, because they hate their bodies. Another concern is he's part of Hollyweird and we know the kinda shit that goes down there. What if Ellen Page was victim of stuff and started hating herself so much and thought that quitting being a woman would save her from harrassment from creepy men in the business. I'm just saying his face is not the face of a happy person...There's clearly some deeprooted issues there and instead of anyone helping this A-MAZING society has encouraged a transition and is now praising him for being "brave" and "happy" when he's literally sitting there malnourished and looking like his whole life is falling apart. I mean it seriously looks like he's being FORCED??? When he's trying to explain what he's most happy about he starts stuttering and then very tightly closes his eyes and go "I feel comfortable in my body"...Thats how I would deliver the same sentence if I absolutely did not mean it.

Any person can have a million and one things making them appear to be or be unhappy. Trans people are exactly the same, you can't assume it's their gender disphoria that's the cause.

You can't know what Elliot Page is thinking or feeling. Nobody who isn't a family member or very close, long-term friend of any celebrity can possibly know what's going on in their head. The image that celebrities present to the public is rarely who they truly are. People believe that they know them, but what they know is their public persona, and very often there's a lot of psychological projection going on.

I don't care enough about Elliot Page to watch the Oprah interview. In fact, I don't care enough about any celebrity in any part of the entertainment industry to spend time watching them feed the ravenous maw of celebrity culture and social media.

However, I recalled that I read this question here when I saw a headline about the interview in one of the online newspapers I regularly read, so I did read that article. The journalist says nothing at all about Page looking unwell, and the emphasis was on him saying how he's feeling positive about life and his body.

Obviously, you're free to invest your limited time and emotional energy in whatever way you choose, but you might want to think about why you care about the state of mind and wellbeing of a person you don't personally know and almost certainly never will. There are nearly 8 billion people in the world; what makes Page so damn special that you need to think about him?

You might also want to think about the projection thing. You say that you don't have problems with trans people, but the general vibe of your OP makes me wonder if that's actually true. Spending time trying to figure out what's really going on in our own heads is always going to be a more positive and potentially productive use of our time than trying to understand what some celebrity is thinking and feeling.

He clearly has some issues to work through and becoming famous as a child will always mess someone up to a degree.

In terms of transitioning in response to abuse as far as I’m aware there has been no confirmation that Elliot was abused but if he has been I think at 34 years old he would have questioned if his desire to live as a man stemmed from that and concluded that it did not. In an interview I read he mentioned wanting to live as a boy before he was cast in his first movie Pit Pony aged 11, so his dysphoria seems to pre-date his Hollywood acting career.

I do agree with the fact that some fans are too quick to push happiness onto celebrities. As I said Elliot obviously hasn’t found peace with himself yet, he has just taken an important step on his journey towards it. Expressing support for him is fine but pushing a narrative of how amazing he’s feeling onto him is inappropriate.

Although it’s a very different situation it reminds me of Gerard Way’s fans’ reaction to his obvious decline in health over the last 4 years. He’s gained an unhealthy amount of weight, let his hair grow straggly, looks generally grizzled and is clearly having a rough time yet his fans insist he’s “happy and healthy!” Perhaps some people can’t bear to face the fact that the idols they use as escapism don’t live perfect dream lives?

    • Being a child star definietely messes someone up. I heard he felt like a man since a kid kinda makes me wonder why he didnt transition sooner then especially in this climate thats been for years now where its heavily encouraged among a certain crowd thats grown over the years. I just find it disturbing to see how people are in complete denial when a person is so clearly not well really makes me question humanity.
I agree about Gerard Way too, havent kept up with him in years but ive seen some of the pictures of him now. Not sure if its being unwell but hes let himself go alright whatever the reason may be.

I agree that he looks unhappy, but you have to be careful with judging a celebrity's life in this way. The media give us the illusion that we know someone when we don't. We don't really know anything about Eliot Page's life. He could be unhappy for all sorts of reasons that we know nothing about.

  • I noticed that in the coming out picture. The face was like "I'm not here, this isn't happening"

I never heard of the chic until she went transgender. Idk much anout him. Might be a great person. Might be an annoying as hell attention seeker. Dont care enough to find out. Seems like she just put on boy clothes and cut her hair and now shes supposed to be like a new person or something.
