Everything you need to know about the norms

Of everything you need to know about the norms you might know, I don't know much about it but I know that normal doesn't mean everyone is going to talk to you as if you're not an individual.
Therefore in being normal am I or am I not right when I say that normal requires me to say and think I'm exactly like you?
As such, is it therefore appropriate to be a conformist and reject every change and every progress mankind throws at you?
Is this correct considering consistency thus a man who's exactly like he's always been?
What I know is that normal people don't change and they don't improve/don't better themselves.
Is it normal?
