Excitement episodes consist of tensing up, shaking and holding breath

OK.. so here it is in a nutshell. When I get excited or when im using my imagination I have these episodes (when im alone) about 30-40 times a day which consist of me holding my breath, crunching my face, tensing up and shaking.. These episodes have an effect on my heart and sometimes hurts my head. I have been doing this ever since I was a child but as I grew older I learned how to suppress them in public (wish that was the same for when im alone) OK.. so far I dont have any solid leads on any diagnoses.. If anyone can help me out or suggest anything then that will be AWESOME.. Thanks -E PS. I really dont think these are panic attacks, as there is not the fear factor involved.

Is this possibly anxiety? 8
Is this possibly ADHD/ADD? 5
Are these possibly panic attacks? 7
Other? 6
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

I do it all the time when I'm excited, it usually occurs at the same time as cackling.

I've heard a lot of accounts of people reacting in similar ways to sudden stress or excitement. It could be a response to a sudden adrenaline rush.

  • Have you ever been checked out for epilepsy?

@thisissomuchfun....Thank you for your input.. It's ruled out not to epilepsy because that causes twitches vrs. tics, which is what I have.

      • What about Tourette's syndrome? I know a woman who had a facial twitch (tick) since she was a kid and it wasn't until her mid-twenties when it was diagnosed. She found out about it when she saw a physician for something completely unrelated. It only happens when she's anxious or frustrated and I suppose she must have been either one because the physician noticed and asked her about it. Not everyone with Tourette's screams profanities.

I hope you can figure out what it is because your description sounds unpleasant. Sorry for the late response, I only got the notification of your reply just now. :)
