I didn't even know advertising was against Facebook's TOS. Was it outside of Marketplace? Even then, I never knew it was against the TOS.
Years ago, I tried out Pinterest and they froze my account for actually pinning stuff to my board. 🤣 I was able to appeal it by saying something along the lines of, "I was just using the site as it was intended to be used, I thought that's what the site was for?", but got bored of it quickly and never went back.
i tried selling it on the facebook marketplace. it might be something else that caused the restriction, but i only got the warning after i uploaded my post.
Was it an item that was against their TOS by any chance? Do you post or comment things that tend to be controversial? Those are the only two reasons I can think of.
Come to think of it, did you learn your account was restricted on the actual Facebook site/app, or did you get an e-mail or text telling you so? If the latter, make sure it legitimately came from Facebook and isn't a phishing e-mail/text, and if you used their links to log in, change your password immediately. The other post on here about phishing made me think of this possibility, since I think there have been e-mails/texts like this. I've gotten them for other accounts stating they were frozen/suspended/etc.
Facebook can go die in a whole with their anti-anonymity policy and their requiring people to send a picture of their ID in order to reactivate their accounts.
My Facebook account was also restricted for advertising. I have no idea why. I have never tried to sell anything on Facebook. I don't post much, and when I do, it's never political or offensive. I can't imagine why they restricted my account.
Doesn't really matter, because I have never advertised on Facebook, nor do I plan to ever do so.
Did you post it on Facebook Marketplace or were you just making regular statuses and comments trying to sell it? If it's the second one, someone probably got annoyed and flagged it or something.
