The story didn't end with the Mickey Mouse song. If you're interested in finding out more check this out..

      https://msuweb.montclair.edu/~furrg/Vietnam/blooperall.html

This book is public domain and it's Gustav Hansford's continuation of his other book, The Short Timers. The Short Timers was a terrible novel because Hansford didn't know how to write, but by the time he released The Phantom Blooper he was much more polished. It's an intense story. The characters are much more psychotic as the war goes on and gets inside their heads.

    5) A Clockwork Orange (1971)

I enjoy the main character in this movie Malcolm McDowall? Anyways the movie cut short at about 45 minutes and gets rather boring.

It's an early Kubrick film. A noir film about a race track robbery.

Yeah this could be the "favourite Kubrick film post 1960" in which case I'd say dr strangelove narrowly over 2001.

    • A Clockwork Orange is a good movie. I read the book and it's not so jive with the original story line.

All in all here's a link to the movie The Shining, thanks for commenting

Eyes Wide Shut is big time. Stanley Kubrick exposed what was going on amongst the super rich and he was summarily murdered because of it. He even died in the year 2001, 666 days before January 1, 2001, which was his most famous film. After his death Warner Bros. took over the film and heavily edited it to take out the more incriminating scenes. They claimed that they edited it to remove some of the more hardcore sex scenes, but that isn't what they did. They left most of those scenes intact.

His other masterpiece is Full Metal Jacket though. Nobody at that time was really making war movies that were that gritty. It's a fine example of great cinema.

    • True true? I heard there was a suspicion behind his death and if what you say is true doesn't surprise me in the slightest.

Cool scene with him and that old dude in his condo sipping Scotch nd Rollin balls on pool table. Yes this is good

That was the best scene in the movie. It had the record for the most takes in a single shot as well. It was over a hundred. That part where Sydney Pollack is walking to the door to open it for Tom Cruise is what Kubrick kept making them do over and over.

Dr Strangelove with the brilliant goon Peter Sellers in three roles. The title role of the not quite ex-nazi is black humour at its best, also the classic line when he's playing the president: "Gentlemen, you can't fight in here, this is the War Room"

I couldn't stand the shining, I would have enjoyed it more had I not read the book or known about the opinion Kubrick had of the source material

Kubrick called the source material "genius" what about that opinion turns you off the movie?

King however, didn't feel as strongly about the movie, he thought it was crap.

      • kingofcarrotflowers

Stanley Kubrick had disagreements with king over how the story should be told, how he could improve it and tweak it which led to some disagreements and a shot being included in the final fil of a crushed red vw ( the colour of the original car in the book ) to symbolise the superiority of his fil to king's book

When a novel is adapted into a screen play, there is always an artistic spin placed on the adaptation. But that does not mean that they have a problem with the course material. Again, Kubrick called it genius.

It was King who had a problem with the way the story was being adapted, it wasn't Kubrick that had a problem with the source material. King has spent about 35 years voicing his disgust.

Personally I agree with King, the book is very good, while the movie is almost comical. But to sugguest that Kubrick voiced any serious problems with the source material is just not right.

I had to say the shining.
But there some very good films he's made, that was an hard one.

But if you've sat through the 3 disc DVD Stephen King one, you appreciate how good Kubrics is!

The Simpsons parody of the shining is a classic...
