Fear of clowns

I have a horrible fear of clowns. My wife makes fun of me. I live in the desert so I'm always outside in my free time. Is being afraid of clowns normal or stupid.

Apparently a LOT of people are afraid of clowns; it's not at all unusual.
Just out of curiosity, could you try to explain it? I'm honestly curious.

Because a clown, 42 years your junior, is just a stupid and honestly pathetic attempt at providing shallow entertainment to those too stupid and selfish to do anything productive (95% of humanity).

That's a bit mean of her to make fun of your fear. I used to know a few people that were creeped out by clowns. All of them had different reasons. I voted normal.

Two cannibals were eating a clown and one says to the other "Does this taste funny to you?"

        Hold up! Hold up!

Didn't you leave this place? What made you decide to come back to wade in this cesspool that was once a decent swimming pool filled with candies? Anyway, welcome back.
        :)

hmm, im scared of clowns too.
i dont know if this helps but, i was thinking about why i am actually scared of them.
i realised, im actually scared of the fact you never know who it could be under all that makeup and fake smiles, its practically a mask.
masks scare me as well. its just the fact their identity is covered up.
maybe its the same for you?

I think it's pretty normal. Some people are scared of dolls. Julius Caesar and Napoleon were terrified of kittens.
Next time she's scared of something( like spiders) put it in her hair.

Why are people scared if clowns? It's not like we come across clowns on a regular basis in everyday life.

Childish fear but it is common in adults too.

I don't see what being outside in the desert has to do with it, but a fear of clowns is quite common, common enough for the phobia to have a name - do some googling, you're not alone, and you wife is childish and disrespectful to make fun of you about it.

I don't blame you for being afraid. Being a clown is sort of a sociopath's game.

Well it's a good thing you told us about the desert otherwise this story would have made no sense.
