Fear of ferns

When I was little (up until the age of 14 or so) I was terrified of ferns. Both thr full grown green plant and the coiled little baby plants. I would not go near them and refuses to touch them. They still make me uneasy. Is this normal? Any ideas why this fear happened?

Ferns look prehistoric to me so honestly I feel quite the opposite way from what you've described. I think that if anything they look refreshing too me.

If you remove the r in fern you have the word fen. That's why you are scared. Spoooooky.

To be serious though, I am not sure why that fear would develop.

Of course, you should be very, very afraid of ferns. The powder ducts (or whatever they are called) on the underside of the leaves are just like the suckers of an octopus; if they touch you, they suck to your shin and it takes surgery to get you free.
    Stay far, far from ferns.
