First year on my own

I am a second year nursing student, I avoided the freshman fifteen but this is my first year alone. This is my first month in a new town and along with homework and classes, I haven't had a chance to meet any new friends yet.
I am not a big person. That is not my concern, the reason I'm concerned is because when your alone and don't have anyone to go out and do things with it becomes easy to turn to food for "something to do". I can see myself starting to go down that slope but luckily it hasn't caught up with me yet.

Can you relate to this? Does anyone have any advice that could help me out?

Find yourself social groups or volunteer opportunities. Depending on what area of nursing you are going into, you could work or volunteer to get some experience. I volunteered in the neonatal unit rocking babies whose parents couldn't be there. Or take up a new hobby, such as knitting, to keep your mind and hands busy.

I understand where your coming from, i'll even start eating when Im bored. Just make sure the first chance you get to go out and start meeting new people you jump right in and start getting to know people so that you make sure you have future plans. That way you can avoid spending most of your time alone.

Good luck with your studies :)
