Football is my life (soccer)

Is it normal that a sport can literally be literally the be all and end all of my life

I have followed my team for years and I've travelled as far as 6 hours up north to watch them play and Will probably spend up to 5 grand a season following them. I honestly love the team more than my family. If we win I'm in a good mood for the whole week, if we lose I'm in a bad mood the whole week.

I suppose it's hard to describe the adrenaline of cheering your team on, and the scenes on the terrace when we score a goal. Passion here in England for sports is 10x what it is in America, which I presume is where most of you are from.

I absolutely love football (what american call soccer!) I watch most of the matches of the Premier League and my favorite team is LFC! My boyfriend is a MANU fan and next saturday we will tear each other. Here people love football, especially English football. My favorite player is Gerrard <3

Football is my favourite game. Anyone anywhere in the world can play it. The rules are simple and adaptable, the only equipment you need is a ball and some jumpers for goalposts, and anyone of any skill level can take part.

I take it you're Sunderland? I'm Cheltenham, down in League Two. In the Premier League I'm Cardiff. I love the World Cup more than club football, though. If England win the World Cup in my lifetime, I can die happy.

Well, I think it's good that you're actually into the sport as a player, too.

I have a lot of strong views on soccer (footie), mainly because it seems to take up an inordinate amount of attention in countries where efforts and energy really need to be directed elsewhere.

Diversion is fine, and I understand people need and deserve joy in their lives, and if it comes through soccer, then great. But it frustrates me how much soccer becomes the be-all and end-all in countries that can't or won't take care of their respective citizens. Divert all the outrage towards the latest loss, or bad call, or whatever.

I'm not sure that the UK is an exception here, either. The media would drop the front page story on the phone hacking scandal for news about Beckham's pre-game medical report in heartbeat. It's pretty sad, frankly.
