Foreigners views on america

Its common when I talk to foreigners that they dramatify American issues like they're worse than they are. Ive heard people say its like a third world country, the majority make minimum wage, people are dying in the streets and you have to fear being shot going down the street.

Never heard anyone talk about America that way. It's more making fun of America for stuff like obesity and americans thinking that America is a paradise that everyone would die for and "MUH FREEDOM!11!!1", guns and stupidity.

    • I never hear Americans saying America is paradise. Only UK people complaining about Americans having guns and how inferior we are. UK people really put themselves on a pedestal. Never met someone from any country as self righteous as them. Sometimes you'll talk to an Australian like that but 99% of the British are assholes

Here's my "foreigner" take on America:

It's fucking massive. Just because I hear about people in Baltimore getting shot on a daily basis, doesn't mean that I should be afraid to go to a little country cheese making town in Wisconsin.

As outsiders, we only hear about America what Americans tell us, a lot of them have negative things to say about their county. Y’all be complaining lmao

I imagine America to be a huge country full of people with low levels of intelligence and mostly overweight, especially overweight men. It also seems the laws are not really upheld in most places so people run around with guns shooting each other. Rioting and looting is common place whenever anything bad happens and everybody just looks out for number one.

I may be completely wrong about America but I think everything I have said is a fairly common perception we have here in England.

That all americans are fat and gunslinging is basically how you solve conflicts, like in the days of the old west, hence the high homicide rate.

What most of us usally think is that americans are idiots, which can be true but is true for every country, but it doesnt help their case that they make fun of us english people "ha u drink tea and eat crumpet and are posh" the fuck is a crumpet?

If you live in the UK and you really don't know what a crumpet is, then you must not have ever looked over what's on the shelves in the bakery section of any supermarket.

The media here is hella pessimistic. We only hear about other countries if theres a mass stabbing or terrorism or something.
