Going off of stereotypes, Millennials are pretty health conscious. Organic eating and veganism aside, a lot of Millennials don't smoke and have replaced drinking with marijuana in some form or another unless they're drinking socially. If those stereotypes are generally true, then between the lifestyle and continuing advancements in medicine, I could see a majority of millennials living to nearly 100

      Lol

“A new study from Duke University shows that life expectancy is decreasing for Gen-Xers and older Millennials. The study comes after widely-publicized health research that shows life expectancy for white Americans has gone down for the first time in decades.”

Which is why you can't automatically trust stereotypes, which I explicitly said in my comment, so I don't get the "lol"

You have a link? That actually sounds like an interesting story and I'm curious to know the reasons behind it

Plugged the whole quote into Google and found a few articles talking about this. A couple of articles also mentioned "deaths of despair."

From the sound of it, suicide rates are up, overdoses are up, obesity rates are up, unhealthy habits are up, and that's all alongside Covid coviding.

I have my own theories on this. We can blame Covid for it, but I think the higher prevalence of grade school kids getting prescribed medication has a LOT to do with all of this. They don't have to abuse it, they just have to be taking it. Taking drugs becomes normal for them, and that ends up leading them down the path of taking drugs to relieve their problems. Which costs money, which they don't necessarily have (or it costs their parents money, which contributes to feelings of guilt). Having less money has a negative effect on everything else, especially eating habits.

It's an endless load of bullcrap kids have to deal with as a result of the misguided previous generation, so it's likely going to happen to Gen Z as well. Then we'll turn around again, wonder why everyone is sick and dying, and blame it on whatever happens to be going on at the time. Excuse my cynicism.

He's probably right, since so many millennials are obese.

People arent living longer due to better diets. People are living longer due to having access to replacing organs and such.

Gen z average will probably be in the 100s.

Would be nice to be one of the few people who lived in the 1900s.

Heck I'm pretty sure we are a decade or so from getting artificial organs to complement our original ones. Perhaps an organ that would filter out trans and saturated fats. Or to be able to synthesize vitamin C like most mammals.
