Funny chinaman

There's this guy at work who I have never spoken to. He's about 50 years old and is about 5 feet tall he looks fresh off the boat into the USA from china. You would expect him to have a thick chinese accent. I was walking by him the other day and he answered a phone call and he sounded straight out of the hood. He was like "aye what it do mang..." or something like that. He sounded super hood and not chinese at all. Idk why but it blew my mind.

    That's pretty stupid.

Not going to lie, though, I know what you mean (once we get the chinaman crack out of the way). Maybe it's because of the thicker accent I usually hear at Chinese food places, but it's always a little surprising to me when I hear an Asian person with no accent, even though I see it all the time. The number of people of Asian descent around here that actually have an Asian accent is really low now that I think about it, and I don't really see that with other races.

You feel even more racist when you get it in the opposite order, when you hear their voice first and see their face second.

    • But sometimes when one is younger you can understand their lack of accent more. Have you ever heard a china man with grey hair thats 5 foot tall who has a hood accent? Thats even more rare. Its that he sounded hood is whats funny not that he didnt have an accent. It looked like if kim jung uns grandfather started saying "yo what it is cuz?"
