Get a job before you join the service?

Should I try to get a job before I join the military? I was going to study since I have to practice for Asvab but I was told I should just focus on getting a job here first. Then practice Asvab.

    I didn't find the Asvab to be too difficult. I would suggest brushing up on your math. Other than that it was pretty easy. I have been out of school for almost ten years though so the math was a little tough for me. Did they go in to detail why they wanted you to have a job first? I don't really see how that would affect you getting in?
