Do you think it's a fair choice to pursue the skilled trades (Plumbing, woodwork, welding...etc.) instead of pursuing a post-secondary education. Or do you think that everyone should go to college / university to learn more. Just curious as to what you think, this has nothing to do with me.
One thing you can say about being a plumber or electrician: it's very unlikely a robot will replace you in the near future.
Two of the most financially stable people I know are both tradesmen. 1 an industrial electrician the other a dry dock/ship building welder.
Both weren't exactly intellectual heavyweights but they earned way more than any graduate I know that was working in the same area of expertise as their degree.
I think people should pursue what they are most suited to when it comes to going to college, choosing a major, and or deciding not to go to college and to pursue a trade instead.
I would side with the trades as I hear there is a shortage due to attrition and students who want a college or university degree. I know one girl who is a mechanic and loves it!!
What does a history major grad say? You want fries with that?
If it's what you want to do, I definitely think that's valid. College isn't for everyone and that's okay.
