Guys: normal/weird--i'm a girl and i want to learn these things..

So like I said, I'm a girl and the thing I want to learn are: Martial Arts, how to shoot guns or use any sort of weapon, how to drive in high speeds, and just about anything you see in action movies. Lol. I want to become a Marine becuase I'm the kind of person that can't work at a slow, stable desk job. I want to be out there running and working. And I'm not reckless or anything. Lol. I wouldn't do anything that can put others in danger so don't assume I'm some danger to society.. Haha..But yea is it normal that I want to learn all these things? Like does it make me seem too tough for a guy to actually be attracted to or anything??

  • Nothing wrong with it. I think that it would a bonus for men that enjoy those things too. Although, you might be too fast moving for the males that just want to take a sit back once in a while. Like most traits, it depends if the man likes those things too.

    • ...So, saying that some men like having a partner with the same interests and traits is worthy of a thumbs down?...Ah, ok. -Rolls eyes-

What's interesting is that it isn't my comments getting thumbsed down that is irritating, it's when users thumbs down comments that have no harsh and is basically true that irritates me; The stupidity of the user on here is what irritates me.

Anyway, back to actually discussing why I dissagree with things instead odisagreeing with no reason, unlike some people.

      • There's been a lot of that. Some people will thumb-down anything they disagree with instead of reserving it for comments that are spiteful and disrespectful.

        • Just pointless, isn't it? I mean, I could accept it if they gave an actual reason for doing so, but it seems they have none. I have a certain idea who is doing it to me though, although I'm not going to say, I could be wrong.

          Just pointless, isn't it?

    Real men like strong women.

not to mention it's fun going to the range with your partner

    • How would you know? You're not a man. "Real men" aren't determined by what females think "real men" are, just like a male saying "Real females like to be taken care of completely by their man".

Do I think this would turn men off? Not all of them, does that make the ones that don't like it any less of a real man? No.

wow it really pisses you off that i said this, eh?

sorry but if a man treats a woman like she's a leper just because she's strong then that man has personal issues.

        • ...Erm, no? I typed this up with the blank facial expression and feeling with most things, the most I get on this site is irritated, not "pissed off".

There is a difference between treating someone negative for a woman being strong, and not liking women for being strong. There are different types of strong.

Fact still remains, you're not a man, you couldn't possibly know what real men want in partners.

Maybe I'm jumping to conclusions, but I just think by "real man" she means that he isn't changing the way he feels about a woman because society dictates that he shouldn't like her for being strong, therefore he is being true and real.

I don't think it meant that if you don't like strong women you're a "fake man". It's personal preference after all:)

            • But the point still remains, she isn't a man, so she wouldn't know. Personally, I don't find it wrong at all to like or dislike strong women. The way she said it implied that if you don't like strong women, you're not a real man. I also don't see how society dictates that males shouldn't like strong women.

I just don't like it when women say things as if they write the guidlines to be a real man, just like it irritates me when men do it to women.

And I agree, it is personal preference, which is kind of made me want to reply to her. It's the same logic as saying if you find white people more attractive than black people, you're racist, when in reality, the person might just preffer white people and not hatte blacks at all. Hope that made sense.

just dont go on the front lines. From what i know women are more emotionally developed/sensitive than men this means your chances of getting scarred are higher. They also have a naturally more developed mind. While most men are less in tune with their emotions and not as developed as a woman in those senses but they are naturally more physically stronger than women. Im not trying to sound sexiest a woman can be a strong as a man if she works out and a man can be what a woman is if he worked at it. i guess what im saying is dont bite off more than you can chew in the military. Although its fucking awesome your into those things.

    • Yea I get what you mean. I don't think it's sexist..just a fact. Either way, doesn't really matter. Women aren't technically allowed on the "front lines" of war. Our options in the military are pretty limited..I still want to join though..Is that weird? Lol. Anyway..I appreciate your comment.

  • I do realize all that. I really do. I just put that to show that I'm interested in things that are more active, intense, and physical. The "action movies" comment was just something I thought would be a simple example for others to understand.

"just about anything you see in action movies." I hope you realize that behind nearly every martial art, there is a complex philosophy and intense commitment that you must understand before training.
As for guns, that also takes quite a bit of practice and much studying. Safety rules are highly important.
These aren't just things you learn to make yourself look cooler. That's downright shameful.
And your gender doesn't matter when it comes to the things you're interested in, so no need to worry about that.
