Half of a piece

I'm in customer service and I always chew gum. I can't chew it in front of customers though and often I stick the gum to the lid of my drink cup and chew it again later. I would say that the gum probably only sits there for an hour or so. That being said, I always use just half of a piece of gum. People always ask me for it once they see me with. And I say, "Is half a piece cool?" Everyone thinks it's so weird, but I just don't think a whole is necessary. I don't chew it long enough to lose flavor. I'm not frugal, but half a piece gets the job done!
