Has anyone online ever been to church?

I want to start off by saying it's entirely possible that my Christian religion is in the minority, but I don't think that's the case

People on the internet make it sound like the only topic ever discussed in church is homosexuality and that every week is a repeat of the same message: "gays bad"

Have they ever been to church before? I've literally never attended a church meeting where the focus or even a main topic of the meeting was homosexuality. Any time leaders at my church do mention "sinful" people, it's always as a reminder to treat them the same way we would treat other members of the congregation

What's with this stupid obsession that Christian churches are nothing more than anti-gay boot camps?

I went to church for 13 years (church of England). The priest even came out as gay when he stopped preaching, so it's a no from me. Evem my nan, who's a Jehovahs Wittness doesn't hate gay people.

The Church I attended as a child regularly spoke about homosexuality and witchcraft as being a sin. It was a Pentecostal church though, so they're the crazy types.

I was forced to go to church when I was a child & they almost never talked about it unless the part of the bible they were reading brought it up, otherwise it was just 'pRaIsE dA LaRd, GoD iS gUd' followed by people:
Babbling incoherently like 'hdajhsghvjhdgjvhsxbas' while spazzing on the floor.
Running around in circles screeching like a banshee.
Or bursting into tears wailing saying 'i LuBs JeBuS'.

    • But at least no homophobia. I couldn't care less if non-Christians think we're stupid or weird or goofy, I just don't want to be unfairly branded a homophobe

I've been to church many times and never remember it being a topic at any of the churches I've attended, to be honest. For what it's worth, all have been Methodist churches (not sure if that makes any difference or not).

I can't say, but there are preachers in the country that say it is okay to hurt a non believer as long as you don't hurt any true believers in the process...

    • Yeah, those people are psychos. They're certainly not the majority though, which is how people make it sound

went for 18 years to a small southern baptist church. in that time, we had about 3 pastors, the longest lasted about 13 years and stopped preaching around the time that I stopped going. he and his wife used to sing this song by the steeles called "We want america back" where they'd bitch about people with "alternative lifestyles" and whatnot. mostly, the preacher said the same shit every so often to his aging congregation who couldn't remember what they had for breakfast let along the last time he made the "pringles" sermon or mentioned wile e. coyote and porn usage in a sermon.

I have been to church and I enjoyed it. I am not actively religious though never have been. The church in my country is very gay-friendly, at least on the surface.
