When you are clearly way behind them but you feel you need to speed up to not be rude. Vice versa I don't like holding the door if they are more than 10 yards away. They have to be right behind me in order to hold it open. There's a certain distance for this to all click. Otherwise I won't hold it open or speed up for the person holding it for me.
I don't like to have doors held for me. But, I will give it an extra push so it doesn't shut on the person behind me.
I slightly speed up for the perso ln holding the door for me but I've held it for black people before and after the 5th or so negro doing this for there was no gesture hinting of a thank you so I stopped doing it for negros.
If it's something like 10 yards away I'll act like I didn't notice and sometimes ill simply know but act like I don't because of time constraints or simply because I don't feel like using my time to hold the door for some one else.
However I always will for the elderly and crippled
If you complain about something like this then i dont even want to know what other types of trivial things that bug you. Damn, just be glad someone is even holding the door open for you at all instead of them slamming it in your whiney little face. Are you for real?
I try not to hold the door for anyone even if they are right behind me. And i expect everyone to hold the door open for me, even if i am 20 yrds away
