omg ur srs abt dis? lrn2get wit da times. if nt ur gonna get a txt sum day n not get it n it will be totes awk.
People are lazy. That's universal. I used to use abbreviations all the time when I was young. Now I hardly use them. They make me feel illiterate.
The only one that pisses me off at the moment is fml (fuck my life), mainly because of the context it's used in e.g.
My phone battery died FML!
I sneezed on myself FML!
I'm fat FML!
I spent so much money on clothes FML!
Just people moaning and complaining about trivial things and acting like their drama isn't ridiculously minute in the context of the general population. Your times aint that hard, stop pretending.
I think that abbreviations are fine but once People start saying them irl (in real life) thats when where you draw the line.
ex. 'O.M.G. I LOVE YOUR FACE'
It HAS gotten bad, and it is only getting worse too. Just the other day I was reading the back of a box for a headset for the Playstation 3, and there was an emoticon in the description. An emoticon. Really? It made me disgusted a little bit. How unprofessional...
I have to agree with NothingxCrazy. Use abbreviations does make you look lazy and not knowing how to use English.
Especially on this site. I do not know if others are in this same boat as me, but this VERY OLD AND DECADE CANNUCK is having troubles understanding the abbreviations here, I believe it is Text Speak, and Me no Speaked Dat.
Why don't chickens wear underwear?
Because their peckers are on their head.
i just use lol and nvm because those are normal. i normally use emoticons like :D :p ;D :l l: p: D: XD DX >:O etc.
What I find the most annoying about abbreviations is that (at least as far as my Facebook status update stream is concerned) there seems to be a new one made up just about every other month at least. Usually it will take me a few weeks to notice (I will think that they goofed up on their spelling), then, after seeing something like "hmu" OVER 9000 times, I will finally go to google and look it up. I am thoroughly convinced that I am literally the last person on the internet to discover these abbreviations after they had already come out.
Seriously, who the hell makes this stuff up???
When you get a text and don't even know what it says...yes we've gone way past too far.
