Have i done the right thing?

I've had the same science teacher for almost two years and I hardly ever speak to her because she intimidates me. She also makes lots of mean and unnecessary comments towards me and many others in my class, such as "You're completely stupid, i have no idea how you got into this class" or "You're a moron" or "I don't think i've ever heard you speak. I don't think you even can speak. No, you probably can't". The last one is something that she's said to me and it made me feel really uncomfortable. A couple of days ago, she said to my friend "I may not look angry on the outside but on the inside i'm trying to restrain myself from killing you" because she forgot her book. I've reported both of these incidents to my school's online report system which is anonymous and confidential. I told my friend that i'd reported this teacher for saying these rude comments and she started getting annoyed at me saying that the teacher is only joking, however i don't take it as a joke and i don't find being humiliated by a teacher for no reason funny at all. So, have i done the right thing by reporting this teacher or should I have just left it?
