ah, not homeless...but when i was on a road trip, i had my package, documents and purse stolen in a youth hostel.
So i KIND of experienced that because it took a couple days to resolve everything, and i kind of stayed on the street during that time, dozing in public places during the day and trying to get drunk people to buy me something to eat and drink at night-
As said, totally different, but still...
SHIT!!!At LEAST 3-4 times.....I should be writing BOOKS or some shit of my experiences have been..that could very well be my path to becoming a FUCKIN MILLIONAIRE,I always felt GOD must have given me some kind of TALENT FOR SOMETHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No, I have plenty of friends that would allow me to stay at their place just so long as I made an effort to find a job, didn't drain them of their resources and pulled my own weight around the house. In short, I'd have to contribute to their family but it's a fair price to pay. That and I have a few family members that would let me stay at their place under the same conditions.
My definition of homeless is that other than a homeless shelter, a park or a car and the like, you have no where to stay or sleep at night or no confidence that you will have that place to stay or sleep tomorrow night. I do not see homelessness as something that is elected, but rather, push came to shove but shove didn't do anything for you. Even temporary homelessness because in my opinion, if you have a place that you can stay without sacrificing life or limb, you're electing homelessness.
I feel very fortunate that I have such good friends and family members. I have built a reputation in my family of being willing to pull my own weight and I know that it would serve me well if push DID come to shove. I know that not everyone is as blessed as I am.
I came real close once, had to sell my (sizable) possessions and live off the proceeds over a three-year period of time during which I couldn't find a job.
No. I think it is sad that wealthy western societies are so unwilling to accommodate the poor, and in particular, the ill.
