I've been to Niagara Falls and thru the border crossing with NY 3 times. I thought Buffalo was run down and dumpy looking, and expensive. I visited NYC once and l was amazed at Central Park and Manhatten. My experience defied everything I thought I knew about NY based on what I'd seen on TV and in the movies. I felt just as safe there as I do in small town upper Midwest USA.
On a crowded bus I saw a young college age girl on two different occasions get up and give her seat to a guy. Once it was to a college age guy carrying a box of books, and the other time it was to an upper middle aged guy. I couldn't believe it. That wasn't the NY I had heard about!

  • Buffalo, Niagara Falls, and NYC. Believe it or not Buffalo was my favorite.

    • At one point it was the high tech capitol of the world, I think maybe 1880s-1920s or so.

NYC and somewhere in the Adirondacks... went NYC for a band field trip in high school, it was alright but not really my thing. I liked all the stores though. went to the Adirondacks on a family vacation, it was amazing, the clearest skies i have ever seen in my life, so many stars at night

I suggest staying in Edgewater NJ. It's 20 to 30 minutes to time square and the hotels are more affordable.

    • I've been to Jersey and I didn't really like it all that much. Thank you for the suggestion though.

  • Once for a wedding. Another time for a school field trip. The wedding was somewhere upstate NY and the field trip was in New York City. :)

Like Whoopi said of Rachal Dolezal, "she can be black if she wants to be"!

NYC can be a vibrant place to work. I wrote software on Wall Street for a couple of years to keep equity money flowing. Highly challenging - lots of money!
