Have you ever lost a tampon inside you?

I am 19 years old and I just recently started using tampons -yeah i'm slow-; It doesn't hurt me or anything but I was googling information about them and I saw there are loads of people who are paranoid because they can't remember if they took it off and they think they have it inside them.

Has this ever happened to you?

Thanks

I accidentally forgot one was in and put another one in when I was like 13, I noticed immediately (the first tampon hit my cervix, which is a pretty obvious sign, so it ended up fine. It's only happened that one time.

If you do have times where you're not sure if you put a tampon in, it's easy to check. Usually, the little string on the end of the tampon will hang out. If the tampon got repositioned or put in incorrectly so that it doesn't, though, you can still get it out. The human vagina is only about 3 inches long when unaroused and lengthens to about 4 inches when aroused. If you think you've put a tampon in but there's no string, put your fingers in your vagina and feel for it (I know, it's kind of gross, but fingers are totally washable). If you can touch your cervix and don't find anything, there's no tampon in there.

I saw other women saying they lost it and have gone to the hospital to get it out. They have other reports of women who have lost a variety of object inside. So I going to go with that.

Well, it takes a while to get used to using them but you'll get the hang of it. And if you don't feel like using them, it's fine. They're not for everyone and some women go all through their lives (until meno-pause anyway) without using tampons.

Well you certainly can't lose anything up there, as everyone else has said.

But I did read a story on reddit a few weeks ago about a girl who had forgotten she had a tampon in, and she ended up going to the doctor and they found it way stuck up there. O.o

At that point i realised why i was in so much pain... I was really tired and in a rush don't judge me

I forgot to take one out once, years ago when I was suffering post natal depression & lack of sleep because of a sickly baby. I went to the doctor with a very smelly discharge after about a week, and the doctor found it - I was so embarrassed I cried & cried.

It's true a tampon can't get "lost" beyond the cervix but you can lose things into the body via the anus - ask any emergency department nurse or doctor.

    Honestly, its happened to me...

I was drunk (lets just say really drunk) n I forgot I had 1 in already so I proceeded to put another one in. I took the new one out later that night and had sex. Lets just say my man is above average... so it must have got lodged in my vag lmao. I dont really remember feeling pain, or discomfort.

About 3 or days later I could smell a foul odor and began to think about my previous actions......

5 days later at work I was going to the bathroom when I could hardly get past the horrible smell. I had a strange feeling in my V & decided to put my finger up there to see if I could feel anything. At first, no, but after a few seconds I quickly felt what had been stuck in my cooter for nearly a week!! It was horrible... and painful. I used 2 fingers to grab it and I soon learned the week old tampon was the worst smelling thing to discover. Lmao

Im not kidding bout any of this.
I was so so so lucky to not die from TSS. (Toxic shock syndrome) and my best friend didnt even believe me when I told her this story, but she realized that's why I must've been exhausted, feeling like shit, and not feeling like myself. I hope nobody ever has to go through any of this! It was crazy... but it should teach ya a lesson to ya gals out there. Anything is possible. This is a 100% real story. And I could have died.

Yall can judge me n say how could I not know I had a tampon stuck in me? But in all honesty its not something ya think youll ever do, so thats probably more of the reason why I didnt think about it sooner. And im sure when I had sex it conformed to the shape of my V... I just wanted to share this story to let ya know this is possible!

If you understood a female's anatomy, you would know that's impossible for a tampon to get lost inside of you. Unless, for whatever reason, your cervix is gaping wide open.

Plus I have a friens who went a coma from the toxic syndrom thing. xP However, losing a tampon up there is not unheard of, but it sounds silly to me. I've thought about the possibilities on this too. But, I think, that if a woman's vaginal muscles are tight that they should be able to secure the tampon in such a way that prevents it from coming out. Of course, I could be on wrong this.
