Headlines, musk buys and many close accounts

This is why Twitter needed to be bought or closed.

Turns out a lot of accounts were closed and a lot were opened or people lost followers as others gained. This is all BS.

This is the Twitter secret army. While Twitter was liberal this army supported and showed support for their liberal leaders. Now they are going to roll over to the conservatives and try to show negative support or destroy any comments that they can no longer censor or block.

Musk will have his hands full to try and clean up this cesspool of social activists. His best bet would be take the loss and close it if he can't figure out how to limit one user one account.

Not unlike is it normal multiple accounts by one user tilts and ruins the experience.

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

Musk had mentioned he wants to do a verification process to filter out bots. I’m alright with that, holds people to their word, but I hope he does not limit the number of accounts.
I don’t see why Musk believes he will be able to easily do this when Twitter has struggled with bots for their entire existence already.

Some people have multiple accounts for very very good reason - small business owners wanting a business account, artists wanting an art account, activists wanting an account with interest-specific content, meme/comedy accounts, etc.

Musk claims - “By free speech, I simply mean by which matches the law - I am against censorship that goes far beyond the law”

Joe Rogan recently retweeted a description of the United States law on Free Speech, and it’s limits. The US currently has a complicated view of what constitutes as “hate speech” but within US law of what categories of speech can be limited it is written -
"Categories of speech that may be restricted include obscenity, fraud, child pornography, speech integral to illegal conduct, speech that incites imminent lawless action, speech that violates intellectual property law, true threats, and commercial speech such as advertising."

If you use Twitter, you will have noticed that Germany will often send a tweet to review (whether you are German or not) as Twitter, being a global platform, tries to appease German law as well. I’m not sure if Musk will change this.

    - My stupid observation -

What I find interesting, is it is the far-right which seem to be jumping for joy. They believe, whether it be falsely or not, that Musk owning Twitter is a win for them. You will see the Alt-Right trolls having a field day.
I saw one tweet by an open fascist towards a transgendered user that said “Twitter is about to become a very different place for people like you”
Again, this is not in my assumption that Twitter is about to become even more of a hate-filled social-war hell-pit - this is an example of what certain people believe is about to happen.

Musk says - “ A social media platform’s policies are good if the most extreme 10% on left and right are equally unhappy “

    Tldr;
Musk wants a verification process to filter out bots, connect people to their accounts.
Some people have multiple accounts for good reasons.
Musk’s claims his form of Free Speech on Twitter will be in alignment to (assuming) US Speech law.
US Speech law has limits, it won’t be a free-for-all.

Musk spends 40 billion plus for a useless website. Meanwhile, there's homeless, hungry, and injured vets exist. What a world we live in.

I dont want to hear any pity partying about able bodied sane homeless people living in this economy. McDonalds is even paying 15 an hour. The wages are ridiculously high right now.

        1. Plenty of homeless people already have jobs. Having a job does not preclude one from being homeless.
        2. Reliable transport doesn't exist in all locations in America.
        3. Just because someone applies for a job doesn't mean they'll get it.
        4. too many other reasons why I don't agree with this sentiment

You're homeless why do you need reliable transport? Just sleep in a ditch outside ur work. They sleep in the ditch anyway near their drug dealers house.

And yes you can get a job in my country super easy. If you cant find a job you arent trying. This isnt 2008 we have a massive labor shortage.

As a vet myself the VA really fails on the people who are legitimately injured and disabled. That being said some vets rely way too much on vet credit. Being a vet shouldnt be the sole reason why you hire them. Just the modifier if it was a tie between equally qualified persons.

I see, and appreciate what you're saying, but it's his money, and he can do what he wants with it. Yes, I think there are better ways for him to spend his billions, but at the end of the day it's his money.

Oh I'm not one of those people that believe we should hog tie billionaires and take their stuff. And Elon has done some good in the world. But Twitter is a cesspool. Just wish people with such vast resources would do more to help humanity. But he can do whatever he chooses with his fortune.

Now right and left extremists can battle it out on their keyboards. I'm in favor

I think the opposite will happen. I think twitter will have a right wing cess pool join. I dont have twitter because they banned me for saying the 2020 election was rigged. But ill make another account if he's gonna allow free speech.

We live in a world now where if you have an opinion you post it on social media and if your post gets alot of likes your opinion is viewed as being more valid. So twitter will just use algorithms or ban people for saying certain things and then everyone assumes those opinions arent popular but its just because they're being censored. People cant say those opinions thats why they dont look popular.

Why does anyone care about Twitter anyway? Of course if he bought that one who's to say he's not going to eventually buy the whole damned internet? I think that should be the main concern

Let the tsunami of voices come back to twitter.

It's like the ending of an adventure movie. Life returning to a desolate land.

Elons going to bring his best men to go through the code to find evidence of how terribly twitter was running itself before he took over.

He effectively bought evidence of twitter lying to congress. Since is evident they were lying due to the recent upticks in conservative accounts being mysteriously restored when twitter proposed they had no bias towards right leaning users.

What would be the magical key to this if there was an automated ban hammer set to clearly conservative phrases and talking points. Which twitters seemed to possess for the longest time.
