Hiking the appalachian trail

I hiked the 2164 mile Appalachian Trail in 2005, and was wondering if anyone out here has hiked it or not. If you never will, or want to.

Just wondering if you did if you were scared your first few days, or to scared to even start hiking. I was scared for about the first week. But as the days went on, I was no longer scared of the hike.

I have hiked it alone 4
I have hiked it with a partner 1
Never have, never will 16
Never have but want to 19
To scared to hike alone 5

Did you go with former South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford?

When you get down around my way, stop by and say hi.

A friend of mine recently hiked the Camino de Santigo (alone) and said it was one of the best experiences of her life. She met a lot of amazing people along her way. And now she wants to hike the Pacific Crest trail so she can experience a hike with fewer people. I imagine the Appalachian Trail would have fewer people too. It sounds amazing.

I have hiked many trails (or parts thereof). I have always wanted to hike the Appalacian Trail, but these opportunities to do so, unfortunately, passed me by.

Have you ever done mountain climbing?

I have climbed a few 'mountains' and I have scaled some rock faces and cliffs, but not to a large extent. I have not climbed to the summit of any of the world's major peaks.

I've lived in Appalachia and I've hiked in Appalachia but I don't believe I've hiked "The Appalachian Trail".

I never have and I don't plan to either. Health wise, hiking is not something I could pull off. Heck! I can't even even participate in sports or exercise anymore. On top of that I've always had an aversion to dry climates:/
