House phones are annoying now

House phones are annoying, they interrupt the entire house just to call one person. I was woken up by one early this morning just for someone to ask if my mum was in, they could've just called her mobile. They're completely pointless now anyway since we all have a mobile phone.

    Sadly enough though -
mobile phones can be a real pain in the ass. Sometimes cut in and out, feel weird to hold, etc.

Land phones do not and probably never had these drawbacks. They are just more clear and a good land phone has a proper handle with the mouth and ear pieces.
This is why people who work from home are sometimes required to have land lines. They are just more reliable. Kind of sad it is STILL a problem sometimes with cell phones.

They ARE more annoying in the fact that telemarketers call them more.

We had one of them when I was a kid. People would take the mickey out of them now, but I think they are alright. The spinning of the dial and the clicking as it returns round, I think they are neat

10 or 11. Jesus you should have been up hours before that. If you want to sleep your life away, then just unplug the phone.

But I was up late the night before so I wasn't asleep that long.

whenever i lived with my parents, i would never answer the house phone because since i had a cellphone, i knew it wasnt for me.. pretty annoying to hear it go off, but now that i'm 4 hours away, when i call my parents, sometimes they wont even answer their cellphones and when i call the landline, somehow they magically answer in two rings.. i dont get it either..

I hated our house phone! My dad hated it even more, so when I was 17, he got rid of it. Cause every 20-30 minutes, the phone would ring and some friend of my mum would be on the phone, asking the most retarded questions imaginable.

We'd be having dinner, phone rings, mom rushes to the phone to tell some friend of hers when a discount at a store ends, or something just as stupid.

Now since we have no phone, she gets less phonecalls, cause some of her friends don't have mobile phones. And in Bulgaria at least it's expensive to call a regular phone from a mobile phone. And she also has facebook. So she can quietly chat with her friends, without alerting everyone in the house.

I don't know. I never really thought about it. I guess I can see how it could be annoying though, although I don't think it would be any more annoying that someone's cell phone going off with a really loud ringtone. As to whether it's normal or not..... I'm not sure but I think I'm going to go with not normal on this one.

I don't have a choice because I work from home for call centres and my employment contract doesn't allow me to use my mobile phone to take calls. I'm on the cheapest possible plan: AUS$70 a month for internet and landline, which includes free calls except overseas and to mobiles.

Well, not really. My internet and cable plan only comes with the phone, so I just pay the cheapest version of it and keep it on silent. I do use it like 2 or 3 times a year to make a call to find my cell around the house. Very useful hehehe.
