How differently do you act online anonymously compared to real life?

I try not to act too differently online. I usually will try to remain as polite as I do online, but when I'm anonymous I tend to bring up more taboo subjects. However, I try to act as I would do in a public square, as I feel that nobody is truly anonymous thanks to IP recording.

Very different 18
Somewhat different 25
A little different 25
No different 18

  • I'm totally opposite.

Everything I've ever told you was a lie.

    Even that.

    And that.

Well, in real life, I have a difficult time talking to strangers, I will often just nod, or mumble a few words to tehm, but online, I'm much more open.
However, I know it's odd, but I'm still a bit shy online,
like, I won't go to someone's profile and start talking to them, they have to talk to me first to start a conversation. I don't know why.

Same. I have pm conversations with a few people on IIN but I don't start them. I know it's stupid but i get a feeling that if i message someone they will be mildly annoyed or just not want to talk I don't know why I know they probably won't

Well i'm exactly the same, I don't see the point of acting like i'm somebody else...especially to discuss opinions. Of course in real life I wouldn't talk about personal stories to strangers lol

Hi, hope you don't mind me asking but were you on the OXM forums? I used to go on there and there was someone with your username. I've been wondering if you were the same person for a while but thought it might be a little rude to ask but I've been wondering more and more

There's not really much of a difference. I'd assume that on here though I may come off as less of jerk because people ask for your opinion, where as in the real world nobody really asks to hear what you have to say. I think on here I may come off as a bit awkward, but kind of nice, which is how I'm like in the real world. Maybe I'm less eccentric, but probably cause I'm sitting down, typing words onto a post. I guess there is a slight a difference, I'm more polite on here than in real life. I mean I am a polite person, but I would like to believe that it comes off more strongly here, since I try more to avoid arguments online than in real life. In real life I enjoy discussing ideas, but when it comes to online stuff, well my hand just starts to hurt after a while.

Also believe it or not, I'm actually this open about myself and how I am perceived in real life, so this is me responding to a question the same way I would if you asked me it in real life. I'm pretty open about how I feel and how I am viewed; whether that be my me or by others.

Well yeah I act the same but here I can if I say something perverted no one knows it really me saying it. So that is the only difference. Often I say online what I wish to tell someone else but no one is ever around to listen so I sit on my computer and type random bull shit on here. Not that anyone probobly cares but im here.

Completely different. Online, I'm a suave lying brigand, rompy pomp pomping with anything that breathes. So much as look at me, madam, and I shall divest you of your underfrillies and bring you naught but the bitter aftertaste of regret and the sense of a man too lost to ever be redeemed.

Offline I'm a depressed and dangerous hat-wearing cuntface who laughed when someone shot a cat up the arse with a BB gun and who secretly hates everyone and wishes people would go away and leave him alone to fester until he can no longer fend off the maggots who would feast on his impending putrefaction and roiling mirk.

But since we're online at the moment, all this is a lie. I'm actually a 66 year old Japanese trasnvestite with a Hello Kitty fetish. No, I'm a 23 year old Icelandic female serial killer. No, I'm Sir John A. Macdonald. No, Harry Styles. No.

Oh, online is _such_ fun. Playing a part like in a movie? What a load of old fuck! I'd rather wake up face down in a geriatric scrotum than be party to any more of this fuckery.

    I'm kidding.

    Maybe.

The exact opposite. Multiple people, one account. We all use this computer and we don't seem to need to log in to this site so we just use the same account.

Nope. I am the same in the real and in the cyber world.
Same ass in both worlds as a friend of mine would say XD Why would I be someone I'm not. I'll just be fooling myself.

I would say I'm more outgoing, I'll actually make an attempt to talk to new people and make new friends while in real life, I'm perfectly content with my current group of friends.

I'm more blunt online than in real life.

I find it easier to express myself when I can sit and go over a the words I've written a few times, if necessary, before sending, than in trying to think of the right words before they stumble out of my face hole. And even then I still mong it up more often than I'd like.

I think I come across as quite aggressive online, too. I've never, EVER had that problem in real life. Quite the opposite, actually.

But I think the online me is more true to the 'real' me.

Your aggression only comes out when necessary. I still see you as very friendly and appreciable. I mean that's how I sense you, or whatever the word for perceiving someone via internet is.
