How do i avoid this person next to my bunk bed
I stay in a hostel and sleep on the top bunk which has become my own little world at the moment. It's cheap, of course but the only reason to come is to catch some quality sleep and utilize the super clean washroom facilities. The arrangement could not have been more perfect, there's a concrete slab next to the bunk which doubles as an ironing board/food tray, a total of 3 power outlets for all my electronic devices and I even have a mini-bar installed permanently. Of course, I lock it everyday before leaving the hostel. Don't want anyone stealing the beer.
I'm really happy in my own little world. Except for this older, middle-aged person staying in the bottom bunk. We used to converse a bit in the past, and he had helped me fix my iPad once. He's a bit garrulous and can't stop talking once he gets started. With respect to his old age, I can't be rude with him.
But he's really getting on my nerves now expecting me to "greet" him every single time our eyes meet. After a hard day at work, I really don't have the energy for pleasantries. I don't like saying "Hello", "Good morning" or "Thank you" to people even at work. It's so fake and contrived. Well, I don't mind returning the greeting but he doesn't stop there. Small talk follows immediately and I seriously feel like dropping dead.
I know this guy is just a far better human being than I am, but how do I tell him to fuck off. In fact, even taking the time to tell him off is way too much effort. I don't really recognize his human rights and I don't really care if I come off as a jerk. But, seriously. I just need a way to IGNORE him, hoping he gets the message and stops bothering me.
When I go home today, and he says "Hello", I won't return the greeting. And if he keeps talking, I'll ignore. Seems right?
