How do i convince my dad to get me a pet chicken?

    Tell him it's really a goose and it lays solid gold eggs.
    Make sure you convince him you will take care of feeding and cleaning up after it, that's how my daughter got the kitten.
    If none of that works, a lobotomy might do the trick.

    Chickens are flock animals so you'd need at least two and you need a fox & dog proof coop and ditto outdoor run. They need the right food, clean water, green stuff and sunshine, also nesting boxes to lay the eggs in, and you'll need to clean the poo out of their house frequently.

    It's also common to attract rats because of the chook food and they like stealing eggs.

    Snarkygirl is right: unless you're prepared to do some research and put in quite a lot of work it'd be better to find someone local with free range eggs you can buy. Most of the ones labelled free range in the shops are not in fact true free range.

    You need space, a coop and probably more than one, I don't think chickens like to live alone. Its not something to justbjump into blindly...just buy her some organic eggs.
