How do i protect my tail bone from bruising my skin when working out?

I have a big butt but you can feel my tail bone and people talk about how bony my butt is. That doesn't bother me. However, when I work out (like doing sit-ups) my tail bone starts to become sore and will bruise my skin and will even my skin raw. Is this normal? How do I stop this from happening?

They do have standing ab exercises. Find some alternate workouts and you'll be just fine.
