How do i stop being emotional for no reason

Nothing wrong with being emotional but sometimes I cry for no reason. Happens maybe once every few months
I just feel this sudden deep sadness and start crying and I have no idea why I am sad. Only ever happened when I am alone so no one has called me crazy yet. One time I was watching a funny video and then I started sobbing. Very weird. Been happening since last year.

Once every few months?? Isn't that normal? Everyone has emotions to process even if they aren't apparent at the surface, you probably built up a bit of stress over the months and cry to release it. I think it's fine as long as you are able to move past it afterwards and it's not like, every other week or more.

I would suggest therapy to uncover the deeper roots of your sadness. There's probably many events in your past behind it. I had similar issues and therapy helped me to understand and cope with them. Good luck from an empathic friend.

I never cry for no reason. I can always pinpoint the reason. Maybe you need to become more self-aware and aware of your emotions.

No offense but don't you literally have autism? This isn't how most people experience emotion

It might just be your release, I wouldn’t stop anything you’re doing naturally and involuntarily.

With respect to what other people have suggested, I don't think this is concerning. Therapy is expensive, unless you have a specific issue to work through or your emotional state is an impediment to living life, I don't recommend going. Sometimes we're happy for no discernable reason, sometimes we're sad, it's human. Best of luck to you.

Do you have a habit of bottling up emotions? I do this if I've been bottling things up for awhile and it takes little to nothing for something to be "the straw that breaks the camel's back". Sometimes I think we just need to release stress/pain/etc. and often feel better after crying.

It’s been a rough few years for most people, it’s not surprising if you’re feeling emotionally over-stretched. I second the advice to speak to a therapist about this.
